Shure, software and the audiocard in a software based synth is the most expensive part. But I used a built-in card, as I use it for monitoring only. But I can hook expensive audiocard via usb or just export recorded song digitally in wave.
Also, there's a great free modular VST host VSTBoard. It allows extremely flexible setups.

It seems I've created an omni-potent Monster. Today am going to add internal 500 gb hdd and install Omnisphere VST on it. Kronos stays lonely alone. But, I think these two PC brothers - Linux PC (Kronos) and Windows PC (AUMS) ideally complement each other.
A whole is much more than the sum of its parts.. It is no longer a tablet with midi controllers hooked into it. It is a synth of its own character. )

My dream came true) Now I can watch Doctor Who right on my synth!)) And play along film soundtrack. Before going to sleep. And, probably, can play while sleeping too) ( 2-nd season, part 10)
