I don't think you could use both USB ports running two different SETs simultaneously. _________________ Sam

This is something I've mentioned before. I totally approve of locked SET's, as it removes piracy from the picture and gives talented developers the incentive to make great SET's (they aren't cheap to make!), but Korg need some kind of a system where you can combine different SET's on the same SD card.
I think this is in Korg's best interest, obviously, the more and better the selection of commercial SET's, the more competitive Korg is in the arranger/sampler market. I think they need to take over marketing these licensed SET's (apparently, you need Korg's permission and code to be able to make the protected SET's in the first place) and do something like the iTunes Store concept, where Korg themselves generate the SD codes to use the product, and securely deliver the content to the one user...
That way, you could browse (and listen to) the entire licensed content, and select the combinations you want.
I simply feel that Korg haven't quite thought out the whole process. Protecting ONE set is all well and good, but most users are going to want more. Even though setting up and operating a web store for the content will be initially a bit expensive, in the long run, due to increased competitiveness because of the increased choices and selection, it ought to pay off for Korg AND the content providers. |

Be nice, while they are at it, to work out a system for locked Styles, too...
On the whole, the third party high quality style content market has almost disappeared, due to piracy. If Korg can protect sample content, they ought to be able to work out a system for protecting third party styles as well.
Sure, you might lose the ability to edit it (if you could edit it, you could change one thing, save it externally, then share it), but it might be possible to change the OS so that edits could ONLY be stored on the protected SD card.
It is content, content, content that makes our modern arranger the wonderful tools they are. Few of us have the skills and chops and taste, access to MIDI drum kits, MIDI guitars, etc. that help make the best styles sound so real to make our own styles. I can count on one hand the user styles I have ever heard that truly matched the quality of the best ROM styles!
But the situation won't ever get better until Korg addresses piracy issue, and it seems to me that if Korg can protect samples, they can protect styles too. They need to take a long hard look at this issue, because content sells arrangers! |

You can? You've done this? I'm sorry, I never read that before. I still don't think that is optimal (only four at a time, max?) but it's better than just one, for sure..!
But my argument still stands... I believe it would be better for Korg and for us if Korg took over licensing and distribution, and managed the security key system themselves. |

You connect the two usb locked to the pa3x front and back and when your starting up your keyboard. It will access to all the samples from the usbs. And I think so go on with 3 or 4 usbs if you have took out some sounds from every usb.
I have 2 locked usbs but never tried this, but i think it will work. jimsweb wrote: | this is quite interesting, can anyone tell how to do this? |

This just doesn't sound very convincing. How do you get passed the Ram limitation issue by hooking up 2 (and possibly 4????) flash drives at the same time? As far as I've heard most USB protected SETs are generally full of user samples. It's not like you can cherry pick your own selection from them, right? Because they're locked. That's what I thought... _________________ Sam

Wrong, you can pick and choose what drumkits or sounds you want from a locked usb.
But you cant use them if your not using the USB as a key on start up.
Ive combined from locked usbs sounds and drumkits to my own set.

You just said you can't use them if the dongle is not connected. In that case, I still don't understand what combining locked SETs could mean in a sense that you could come up with a 3rd SET independent from the original SETs A and B. _________________ Sam
