I started the 3.1.0 update about an hour ago. Ever since, it has been stuck on the first dialogue box that appeared which says "Preparing to install..." I'm getting a bit worried and I was wondering whether this is normal. Is it Question Exclamation If not, what can I do?

Hi trix:

No it's not normal. The whole update only takes a minute or so to do when it starts. Might want to remove the USB and do a reboot. I wouldn't power down with the USB in it .

Might get a new USB, format it to FAT32 and try it again. Also do a Google search for that error message to see what others have found to be the solution in previous installs of other OS.

Let us know.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply Very Happy

I followed your advice and removed the USB disk before rebooting. My Kronos is working fine in OS version 3.0.4 again.

I tried googling the error message but didn't find anything relevant.

I'll try using a new/newly formatted usb disk when I regained my courage.

Thanks again!

You might as well wait for 3.1.1

in terms of install, 3.1 was pain-free.

So you might re-check your install steps. There are about 10 overall trouble shooting tips if you google this forum.

First up, you should verify that you have a good D/L . It wouldn't hurt to start with a new D/L to copy over to your new USB thumb drive that has already been Korg Fat 32 formatted.

It is unusual, my upgrade went without a hitch.

Did you also remove other USB devices (and any computer USB connection) before doing the update?

It happened to me installing 3.0.4.

I reformatted the usb key and moved across again the files and the installed worked the second time.

The only different thing I have done the second time was to wait for a bit before starting the upgrade (the first time I went for it as soon as the kronos was on and it crashed)

I reformatted my UBS disk to FAT32 and tried again. It worked and my Kronos was updated to OS 3.1.0 Very Happy Cool Exclamation

I didn't have anything connected to my Kronos via USB except for the USB drive with the installation files on.

I think I know what went wrong though: I think I used a FAT16 formatted USB drive instead of a FAT32 formatted one - actually, I'm quite sure this is what happened as I had formatted the USB drive on my Kronos without changing the presets, and FAT16 is the preset.

I also had troubles installing the EXs15 expansion earlier today, which must have been caused by the same formatting mistake.

Thanks for the help folks!

Perfect! Glad to hear it worked!
There are a few bugs when using 3.1 (read about them) but I'm sure 3.1.1 will be out fairly soon (fingers crossed).
I've been using it and it seems to work fine as long as you don't check both KARMA boxes. I've created a few splits already with no issues.

I really like the feature.

I have been reading thru the forums and download page, I saw that in my case at firmware 3.02 I need to update the Sub-System to 1.08 before I update any higher than 3.02 on (Kronos 2). I also wonder if anyone knows how to pull up the Specs page on the Kronos 2 to see where I really sit with my Keyboard. I just want to avoid screwing anything up and keep it simple as possible (if that is possible)
Thanks
