E2 1.10 update - are some scales messed up now?
After updating to 1.10, I notice that a few scales are wonky...go to diminished, co -diminished, or gypsy... Then go to keyboard mode and play the pads. On mine not every pad plays...almost like 2 pads produce the same note. Can someone else test and confirm this please?
Can we have a collection of the scales that got ruined by the update?
Also since this is a serious issue, contact your dealer and tell them that your gear got ruined by the update and that will force a major call to Korg.
If you are a Sweetwater customer call their tech support immediately! There are a couple good guys there that have good relationships with Korg. The only way Korg will take this seriously is if there are enough calls, particularly from their dealers.

Nah jokes are off dude. This is actually a serious issue because the FUNCTiONALITY is now ruined. The keyboard mode itself is wonky when you select these scales. I believe the same goes for the touch pad. So korg needs to fix thisRPgrantham wrote:Hello this is Sweetwater technical support how can I help you. Oh, your Gypsy scale is off after the update and you are outraged? Korg have already been on to us and suggest you learn to play a keyboard

I just got mine used from someone that bought it recently, it shipped with ver 1.05. It seems to be working fine, all of the mentioned scales are working okay with the new firmware.
This thread says there may have been a "hardware revision": http://www.reddit.com/r/electribe/comme ... i_test_to/
If there was a hardware change, maybe the earlier ones don't like the new firmware? Again, mine seems to be working fine... Hopefully they can straighten this out, can you try to reflash the firmware and try them again?

Just a little bit more detail on this. The scales are still 'correct' as far as the notes that are played. For example the diminished scale, it will light up the right notes, but has spaced the scales across both rows of the keyboard. This requires some 'ghost' notes but is quite playable.
This makes the scales more playable (this might be an improvement!). Take Gypsy for instance, with a similar behaviour to the Diminished scales without the 'duplicate' notes, both rows of pads would not be in alignment.
So personally, i prefer this implementation.
I wrote this on another thread:
I haven't had a chance to connect the Electribe to a Midi keyboard, but I remember really liking how Korg had implemented handling scales prior to this.
I'll report on this more. But right now, I personally don't see this as a bug.

I can't completely recall what the behaviour was like before the update as I just repurchased my Electribe back from a friend. I missed it, even with its bugs, and was happy to hear that they addressed some of them. The more I play with the scales, I personally don't see the implementation as bug but as an improvement. All the scales either have ghosted notes or wrap at a point to allow the root notes to be aligned.
Take the Gypsy scale for instance, the 'ghosted' notes allow the top and bottom rows to be in alignment.
On the Major 3rd, play the first three pads on the bottom row and then play the first three pads on the top. You can do the same starting with pad 4 on the bottom.
All the scales work this way. Played properly they are all aligned.

In the the diminished scale playing anything on pads 10/12/14 will light up the pad next to it, not the one your press. Some pads have the same note. If this is an improvement it sure is a messy one to me. Feels like a bug not a feature. I'm glad it doesn't happen on all scales.
You lose half the notes as changing octaves is also buggy because you can't go back from the highest to an octave right below it. This makes live playing more than 1 octave pretty much impossible as you skip over 2 complete octaves. It is impossible to go back from slow blinking to fast blinking.
With those two combined it makes live playing any keyboard parts kinda meh.

Totally with you on the octave thing, that is a sloppy piece of work, jumping back 3 octaves at a time from the top!dutchcow wrote:In the the diminished scale playing anything on pads 10/12/14 will light up the pad next to it, not the one your press. With the scales I can't see any differences. I'm trying all the ones people are saying and all my pads play as I'd expect them to. I must be missing something.

Those Reddit threads point back to this forum, where we started the hardware rumor by blindly speculating. I don't think there was a hardware revision.Nathaniel Goodwin wrote:I just got mine used from someone that bought it recently, it shipped with ver 1.05. But it is a good lesson how rumors and internet legends work.
