I hear clicks and pops very often when polyphony is set to mono(1or2) and samples on the same track are triggered multiple times after each other. It sounds to me that the newest note cuts off the previous and because the waveform isnt at a zero crossing it wil pop. It is better noticable when I use a lowpass filter and set the filter at a low value. Adjusting attack and release doesnt help unless I make the sound very short but I dont want that. It makes the unit almost unuseable for overlapping notes. I also have clicks and pops when I use a looped sample, like a single shot waveform. Otherhardware samplers I've owned and Simpler/Sampler in Ableton don't click when a wave is cut off at a non-zero crossing.
Since I don't read about this kind of behaviour on this forum I'm guessing it isnt a known bug. I'm using my own mono 48k 16bit samples, converted using Soundforge 11 with all starting at a zero crossing because they all have a fade in and fade out in the sample. I'm using the Mac Electribe Sample Manager to make my banks. I'm going to try converting to other formats and using other programs to see if the problem lies there.
You people dont get clicks and pops? Can someone please send me a random sample thats about a second long and doesnt click on your es2 and tell me how you loaded it? Thanks. |

I do not know where that come from exactly..

I have this problem too with long samples as with single cycle wavaforms.
I don't need to loop the sample to hear clicks, it happend randomly with 44100 or 48000 samples. |

I resolved my clicks & pops problem : the wire cable.
Do you have the same thing with an headphone ? |

I'm mainly using a headphone
I tried other ones and it does differ in how hard the click sounds.
But still very noticable.
Edit: I think I found it. It is the lowpass filter. If I turn it off and use the low pass filter insert effect and use lower cutoff values there is no click. Since I use a lot of lowpass filtering I got the idea all sounds clicked. That's one shitty filter then

Yes... I suspect that come from the "electribe filters" too..
Maybe users of the E2 don't have this problem (if they use the others filters)
but with the ES2...we don't really have the choice..
(I use a lot of filters too..)
