Thanks for the reply. This is my intended approach. And I believe there will be feedback issues. But you never know. :)

Resampling via physical outputs?

Friends. I'm considering an Analog Heat, to use like this: Audio Out from Electribe Sample into Analog Heat (so far so good) then Audio Out from Analog Heat into Electribe Sampler's Audio In This, for resampling purposes. So I've got a nice groove going in my sampler tribe, and what I want to do is ...

Yes, it definitely has character to boost. You can get far with just a few seconds of sampling time, as long as you put the right stuff in there.

In fact, in some ways, it's better cause it forces you to think, limiting your palette and makes your focus stronger.

Made a track with just the ES-1

Found one of them champagne ES-1 samplers for a good price, picked it up and made a track with the default samples already in it. I kind of like it and played it at my sister's birthday, on one of those Swedish summer nights when the sun never sets. People were dancing in the grass as the waves ...

Yes. The right features in the right combination, requires very little to get good stuff right. I'm still exploring the SP303. The rep of its sound is not overrated. It sounds really great.

As it happened, I found an SP-303 at a bargain price. I could sell it tomorrow a make a buck (not much more, but still :). So I've hooked it up with the ES-1 and suddenly have myself a small semi-vintage (gear from early 2000's isn't exactly Mini Moog vintage, but still) sample rig. What I was ...

Mmm, well, the 6-second sampling time might be the blocker for me. Many of my loops are just longer than that, just anything around 127-129 with four bars well extend beyond that limit. So if I can't sample a decent loop and trim it within the OP-1 without worrying about a limit that's cut below an ...

It just occurred to me, maybe the OP-1 is an option for this.

I have no experience with that instrument.

Is it any good at recording loops like this? Anyone who knows?

Yeah that's why I bought an sp505, but as you say it's more the romantic notions of vintage gear that appeals. The sound and FX of the 505 are great but I've gotten too used to the ease of use of newer hardware, I just couldn't be bothered with it in the end! Shame as it was bloody good! I think ...

I bought both around a year ago, the esx is brilliant but you can't beat the sound of the original units. I've previously owned the ER~1 and EA~1 and they were fantastic units in terms of sound. I always wanted an EM~1 but never got round to buying one. Ended up with the emx, which is great but ...

I'm totally biased, it was my first sequencer and I learned it inside-out. It was mentioned above, but the delay is great fun on the ES-1: set the Time parameter to whatever works in tempo with your beat and it'll be stored with the patch so you only need to CRANK the depth knob to glitch it out ...

Nice to hear you found a machine you like! But as someone who owns both, the ESX just stomps the old ES-1 in about every way other than--as you said--an interesting sonic character: "muffled" but in a full, pretty bass-y way. Personally I find the added stretch parts, arpeggiator, MIDI CC, mod ...

Was it a mk2 ES-1? The one with the "champagne" metal faceplate? Agreed, a fine looking beast. I think my ER-1 mk2 looks gorgeous... Yep, it's not always 100% features that win you over. My Volca Sample out-funs anything i have ever owned. That plasticky, wobbly-potted-pitiful-4mb-of-sample-RAM ...

Good choice! The master delay is gnarly too! They don't make them like that any more. I've got one as my crunchy drum machine. Thanks! Yes, the delay and the fx in general has plenty of character. Makes me consider an EM-1, actually. And there goed the one box at a time principle. Still. Makes me ...

I chose the Electribe ES-1

I had the rare opportunity not too long ago, to try out mint condition Electribe samplers - the ES-1 and the ESX (SD version). They were both for sale at reasonable prices. Since I don't buy much gear now, and have this idea that I should only own one instrument at a time (currently the Novation ...
