The MODX has been Yamahas biggest selling synth for 10 years. The montage is still having large updates and so don't see them replacing it very soon as they are selling quite a few units since the v.3.0 and v3.5 updates. The need for what a workstation was 10 years ago is very different and demand ...

I played the CS80 a while back found it to be underwhelming i think it’s reputation is bigger than its sound. The Prophet Rev2 16 voice polyphony has excellent routing options prefer it to the prologue which i found to be thin in sound. It’s funny really because the Minilogue XD sound is much more wa ...

Agreed i’ve always bought the mid ranged stuff although i’ve had the Kronos, I’ve had the Motif they went as the cost didn’t justify the content for me when i already had the majority of them in other things. I did relent though and get the Fantom 8 because i wanted the keybed and Logic/Garageband in ...

I think that’s a massive contradiction. The Kronos is no more than the majority of what the Oasys was and that’s from 2005. People talk of Korg being forward thinking and then they release the 2600 from the early 70s? I think ALL the three major manufacturers have recycled their Technologies since th ...

I’ve had Mac and PC I certainly think the new mac pro’s and imac pro’s are very overpriced. Certainly when they had the dustbin mac pro’s and the new imac pro’s it’s style over performance because of the crap thermal apple used on them the CPUs were hitting almost 100 percent on the temperature side ...

The FM synth engine on the Montage and MODX Yamaha synths are way easier to program some great sounds on there with the FMX engine the UI is easier to understand than the Korg MOD7.

Like most though i don’t see what all the fuss is about with FM synthesis i do like it but overrated.

It’s a keyboard version of the Volca FM 6 OP with 32 algorhythms whether it’s an official release though is anyone’s guess.

I agree the market has changed since the Kronos was released in 2011. Already based on 6 year old technology and a slimmed down Oaysis the Kronos has had a good life. However dwindling sales in high end workstations and a shift towards smaller footprints (Volca's, Roland Boutiques, Aira, Minilogue ...

Well Roland needs to now replace their version of the Rompler/Synth hybrid the JDXA with something a bit more finished and complete, as this is a perfect replacement for that.

I'm not too bothered it only comes with the core engine since I had X3 Producer anyway, so all the plugins and extra's for that work with this anyway. Plus most of my plugins have a VST variant so I can load them in to this. It does come though with channel strip affects and a few other bits anyway ...

I fail to see what Korg have done that the other manufacturers haven't (Big 3)? If you go back to 2005 when the Oasys was released based on a standard PC mainboard with Linux, with an open architecture, it allowed them to release the software versions of the MS20, Polysix plugins for the format ...
