Replying to myself...
Got it finally up and running.
I installed rtpMidi to my iPad and from there I can choose source-destination ports.

External keyboard (Oxygen25 4th gen.) + Apple CCK does not work with iM1. Works fine with Garageband. I also had that "not enough power" issue with Oxygen but I solved it by changing the order of connecting peripherals: First Oxygen to CCK and then CCK to iPad. But still, no midi-activity in iM1 ...

just had the same issue. After serious googling I found that external keyb has to be connected first to CCK. Then turn on the power switch from keyb (if it is "mechanical") and plug the CCK to iPad. Worked for me.
