Just a thought. Could you do a reset blindly... By counting arrow pushes until you'd be at the appropriate setting and pushing enter once you're at a factory reset button... In all honesty I haven't read the whole thread.., but I'm curious whether or not because the display is blank if button ...

Ouch :( Maybe there were some misplaced edits outside the header? I imagine getting something wrong in the header itself would make the electribe reject the file. There's no known key combo for a diagnostic boot.
