Could you elaborate further on the optocoupler? How do you connect it?

It does internally because of the modern chips it uses (3.3V).

But the front end CV inputs are specified in the manual:

• • GATE takes "any" voltage and clips it to +5V
  • PITCH takes from 0 to +6V, 1V per octave

You can add a random checksum byte (between 00 and E9) with any hex-editor right before the F7-byte and it will be useable with dexed. Dexed does not care if the checksum is right. Hah!
