cheers for the quick reply! i know i shouldn't have to use another audio device, but what's the other option??? of course i would love to be able to use it as a proper mixer, but if i can't then sure as hell i'm gonna use a + £1,000 piece of equipment for something, even if it is a midi controller. ...

No it wont, but the issue is, you shouldn't have to be strapping a MOTU on the back of the Korg, just for sound quality issues...

Just using it for a MIDI controller is a bit of a waste, as I have discovered.

Yeah, I guess what I am trying to do is clarify what everyone is having problems with - what sounds like a digital buzz, not a hiss, or a high noise floor.

Obviously it isnt every unit. Ive had 2 different zero4 mixers used where i am a club tech here in new zealand and there was no detectable noise at all....and im a fussy bastard I even bitch and moan at Serato users for using those crappy interface boxes. Well, at least one of the NZ Zero 8's has ...

The Zero 8 -Is it a hiss or a 'digital' sound?

So, I dont get much 'hiss' - no more than I would consider a normal noise floor, however, I do get what I can only describe as a 'digital bus noise' - regardless of having the firewire plugged in or not. The thing is, it seems to go away after about a half hour of running time...

Zero 8 - 'midi' input disables analog channel fader?

If I have the analog channel right down, then flick over to midi, what was turned down, now comes back into the mix. Correct?

Either that or its now disabling the cross-fader assign?

this is for HISS issue only please post your questions elsewhere.. you must have monitors at 50-100% to hear hiss... nothing matters what you do on mixer, only way to get hiss is to turn it off entirely after startup disco very audible hiss begins, no matter what settings Exactly that issue, but ...

It does. Its just that its sending program change messages or pitch bend - depending on what software you are using - not CC messages like the rest of them.

I have just programmed a translation rule that converts it back instead...

seems to do the trick.

Ok.

In front of my computer, with Ableton Running, and Korg Edit.

Still the same question though - where is the EQ Selector Button located?

It doesn't seem to be anywhere in the edit software...

Zero 8 - EQ Selection Knob and midi...

I essentially want this know to control a chain in an Ableton Rack - each step selecting a different part in the chain, and therefore enabling a different effect - essentially controlling what becomes a multi effect unit rack... So - according to Ableton - that knob is sending PB information - which ...

Yep. I can wind the XLR outputs up to full, in the studio, and not hear anything.

The Booth outputs, however, have the sound of the firewire bus all over them...

Well... it wasn't a 'mistake' - i'm sure it was a design decision.

They could also have put direct outs on each channel, inserts on the master outputs and channel inputs, and so on... its a case of where do you stop?
