Best is a relative term. You can go for Focal/Adam/Genelics for decent stuff. for low to mid price range, Yamaha/JBL/PreSonus I have to agree with Amit here. Best bet would be to take a little portable sounds source (uncompressed audio is a must TBH) and have a listen to a few different makes and ...

I can't see the spectrum analyser approach working, too much clutter in the song. The idea seems counterintuitive too, but then again I haven't looked at such an audio spectrum. Might have a nosey if I get the chance at weekend. I have a friend who is somewhat of an expert on The Stranglers ...

That's why I specified faulty, and I would never assume cct topography.

It's a practice I have heard from other engineers too.

It doesn't appear to be a typical form factor atx PSU, perhaps smaller. Also doesn't seem to be enclosed either. Finally, do keep in mind that a faulty SMPS can have the internal discharge path damaged for the large high-voltage capacitors. This means they can store a dangerous charge for a ...

Or set portamento to a high(long)value and play the pitch change.

So an update of sorts... Impending need for a keyboard, friends in need etc :P... Got a T2 donated! No backlight, all the tact switches are shot... The thing seems stable though, even the disk drive is fine! Must admit that the sound reminds what the wife said about great efforts for small return ...

That is some brilliant information Joe, thank you so much.
I will have a look further at what is affected by that multiplexor and see if I can get away with ignoring it.

Will post back the outcome of course, what's a mystery without a conclusion!

Thanks again for the info and encouragement.

Thanks Joe! Must admit this T2 has been breaking my heart this last week. Seems there is a fault with the backlight that blows the drive transistor. So removed the transistor and powered it up without backlight. Now it has a Low battery warning, but the battery is good. Have traced battery volts to ...

A small update. Firstly I forgot to include the service manual in first post, so here it is: https://medias.audiofanzine.com/files/revue-technique-korg-t-series-t1-t2-t3-sm-476484.pdf Managed to get the PSU on a load, to see how the 5Volt rail behaves. Started small at 100mA and the rail dropped ...

Thanks Voip. Was in a bit of a rush yesterday and stepped ahead of myself, so to speak. A bit more familiar with the layout of the forum now. Decided to post a new thread(Korg Synths (General)) as I was asking about a different (faulty)model of Korg PSU and synth than the threads my searches had ...

Korg T2 PSU/Backlight Repair

Hi all. I was gifted a T2 (yey) which worked fine for my first few practises with a band in 25years, booked a gig and the thing instantly failed (argg). Fist the backlight went out, then the machine would crash/reset/hang intermittently (every 30 minutes or so). Had a look and an area of the PSU pcb ...

Hi all. Just registered and thought I would say hello and try to fathom what goes where around these parts. I am old fart keys player and sometime electron wrangler and have found myself back in front of a Korg again after many years. Have some questions relating to the repair of a T2, have found ...
