Just as a general response to your move from the DAW world to hardware--even very expensive, feature rich hardware often lacks options that feel so basic when you've been making music in the DAW world for a long time. Classic house and techno didn't use sidechain ducking. They just had to design ...

They look brilliant, to be fair... We’ll see how long until I crack :D I have a feeling I'll be buying one as a late b-day present to myself. Either that or a Strymon El Capistan (again). I really haven't heard anything in software that sounds *that* good as a tape delay. BUT...I seriously digress h ...

The Monologue having proper p-locks makes me wonder why Korg just didn't institue this in the new Electribes--that might have helped with some of tha annonying limitations (bugs as some call them) in the new ones. I'm on my second E2S as well. Having owned an E2, an ER-1 MKII twice, an ES-1 and an ...

I'd use the electribe on its own as one source and then send clock to the iPad which i'd have running into the kaoss pad. why? You can cover lots of ground with the e2s on its own and its intuitive. The master fx, mutes and filtering etc are always within easy access. iPads can be a nightmare to ...

I've always loved the forced minimalism of the Electribes. Even on the new ES2 I quite often just go with the flow of voice stealing when it happens. Lots of cool happy accidents have happen in that way. And here I thought I was the only one who kind of liked the voice-stealing problem. I've always ...

That said—the electribes give you a ton of different parts (even the humble ES-1 has 9 drum parts and a Slice part), and I've found that as often as not, that's actually way more parts than are useful. In other words, it lets you make music that's much more busy than it probably should be. I've a ...

I've owned an FMR RNC twice. Basically does what it says on the tin, "really nice compression" and the Really Nice mode is pretty legit--never read anything about what drives it, but you can squash stuff pretty good w/o nasty artififacts. EDIT: I missed that you've tried a RNC out. At this point I'd ...

I do a bit of both. For music that is more melodic than your typical dance track I think there is a distinct advantage to using something more complex to arrange in MIDI. Electribes are best for electronic music that prefers quantized sequencing and simpler, repeated phrases (loops ;p). At least for ...

Questions about a live setup with ES2 as the center.
Hey all, So I've got a series of live gigs coming up in July 2018 at an outdoor music and arts festival. I'll try to keep this all short and too the point. Since this is Korg forums and the Electribe sub forum I'll start with the most relevant questions. One of the performances I'll be doing is ...

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Hey all, Aaron here (IntheAM). I've been a fan of electronic music since the first time I saw Bladerunner when I was a little kid. I started DJing in college which lead to making my own music. I've been using hardware for some years now and mostly rely on a hybrid setup. A Korg ESX was my first ...
