Can Trinity use a Triton display?

I have seen a number of online parts vendors that claim to have displays that work for the Trinity and Triton. I have looked at the service manuals. The Trinity display and touch panel is part # KGJ-01S-3 while the same for the original Triton was KGJ-01S-5. Is the -5 part just an upgraded display ...

DO NOT allow an LCD like that to be exposed to UV for long periods. It will damage it. As for the static on the outputs. I recently picked up a Trinity with a dead left channel. As it turned out, it was just bad internal connections. Korg used some less than robust connectors during this time period ...

I should note that when I first started testing this Trinity, the aftertouch wasn't very good either. It kicked in way too easily and had very little depth to it regardless of the sensitivity. It was just about impossible to be subtle with it. I gather either the pressure strip and/or the keybed ...

I just need to make a note here, I was very surprised and disappointed that Korg did its software upgrade this way. This is a big NO NO when it comes to software development. I write embedded software myself, as part of my job, and usually I would load the entire image to memory first, verify the ...

Ribbon controller pressure sensitivity

I've been restoring a Trinity Plus I picked up for $75. One of the last things I've done is to replace the ribbon as the existing one basically didn't work directionally. It acted more like a switch that only had a huge middle section and two end zones at the very extreme left and right ends ...

I can't decide if the flawed look of my LCD is just a stressed touch panel or partially the LCD as well. The only way to find out is to remove it. That's a sizeable job.

Thanks for the link. I'll check that out.

Thanks for the info Timo.

So then I gather frustrated users would mash the glass touch panel so much that it got micro stress fractures and started losing sensitivity and looking strange.

These things should have come with a stylus to begin with!

Replacement Touch Panel - Drop-in?

I've seen various threads here about Trinity touch panel problems and some attempts at retro fitting other digitizers. Has anybody found a true drop-in replacement for the Trinity touch panel? There are some on eBay which might work but I'm not sure and I don't think Triton digitizers are the same ...

Make sure you run the Korg driver utility that allows you to delete old USB MIDI drivers. If the Radias gets placed up at MIDI Port 18 or something high up like that it won't work properly so you need to go in and delete old drivers to get the Radias or R3 back at a lower port number. It's a pain ...

The latest driver does support the Radias. Typo in the listing most likely.

Long overdue reply, but here it is.

I have my suspicions that an Alesis Quadraverb 2 supply may be the same and uses the same connector however I have not tested that yet with a multimeter so DON'T TRY IT.

Unless I'm mistaken, the XD like the original Mini and Monologue STILL HAS NO S&H!

Let me know if I missed it somewhere. I find that baffling. S&H is such a great sound design tool I have no idea why it's not in any of these machines. That omission killed my interest in any of them.

Try DeOxit G5 before tearing anything down.

This is an old thread, but this is still good information. The problem with old rotary encoders is not always that their contacts have worn down. In fact often, in my experience, the problem is that the damping oil from the shaft has run down into the contact area and is causing trouble. Regular ...

Radias - SYSEX dumps & MIDI clock

I have had an R3 for quite a few years and love the little beast for all it's hidden power. Just yesterday, I came across a Radias in practically mint condition for $325 at a local music shop! Needless to say I didn't ponder that purchase for long. I think you could spend a long time looking for a ...
