VST Drums
Drum machines (Boss DR-770, Alesis SR-16) have a drum fill button that triggers the drum fill pattern that is associated with the main drum pattern. Arranger type keyboards (Korg EK-50, Korg Pa5X) have the same type of drum fill button. As I study VST drum software (EZ Drummer 3, and others) I don't ...

DAW Fundamentals: the Audio Interface
22 years ago I found recording MIDI and audio from keyboards easy with a Desktop PC, a multi-channel MIDI interface, and Creative Arts Soundblaster audio card. Now, with laptops, one needs an audio interface. Is it really necessary to have, say, Left/Right inputs for each keyboard on an audio ...

The Scene Feature of the Nautilus
What about the Scene feature of the Nautilus? Isn’t that a nice feature that the Kronos doesn’t have? Doesn’t the Scene feature make the Nautilus somewhat like an arranger/entertainer type keyboard?

Studio Desk Selection
I have several user ergonomic questions regarding which studio desk you use. 1. If the desk has the sliding keyboard tray, do you put the keyboard instrument on the tray, or do you put the computer keyboard on the tray? 2. If the instrument is on the tray, does the instrument bounce when you play ...

RH3 vs NH Keybeds
What is the difference between the RH3 and NH keybeds? RH3 is on the G1 Air (flagship digital piano for Kong), thus I assume RH3 is closer to an acoustical grand piano. Then, can anyone compare them to Kawai’s Responsive Hammer III?

Nautilus Step Sequencer and Loading CD ROMs
Some questions about the Nautilus. Know that I know almost nothing about workstations (I have Ensoniq TS-10 and E-mu E4XT Ultra). 1. Is the grid system of the step sequencer on the Nautilus something that the Kronos doesn't have? 2. Can the meter (time signature) change from scene to scene? Or, how ...

Kronos: 61 or 88 keys?
Kronos workstation questions: 1. How did you decide on 61 or 88 keys for your Kronos? I am more of a classical keyboardist, but with a workstation I would do more non-classical composition. On the other hand, I feel like I would spend more time in front of 88 keys. For synth/organ action I can just ...

Guitar Center: Korg vs Yamaha
1. I recently visited 3 Guitar Centers in the Washington, DC area. There was extensive promotion of Yamaha keyboards (Synths, Workstations, Pianos) with very little promotion of Korg's lineup (Kronos, Krome, Kross, etc.). What's up with that? 2. How do you differentiate between the Arranger ...
