Another thing you can do is use compression; there's a vintage compressor pedal in the ep 1 engine, so even as part of a combi it will work. This will bring up the level of the soft notes so you won't need to hit the keyboard too hard; it also just makes the sound rounder and more full.

Thanks trancedelicbluesman for replay. A few days ago, ASM announced two new models, the Explorer (three octaves, it also runs on batteries), and what is more interesting for you, Deluxe model, 73 keys with 16 voice polyphony. These are practically two ASM 8 voices machines, in one case. You can ...

As for me I am using a humble set of logitech computer speakers connected to the headphone jack. Volume is controlled by a mouse type thingy that has a separate slider just for the sub. The sound is warm and satisfying but I also use a pair of audio technica headphones for greater clarity, detail ...

Good choice

It is widely accepted practice to have two boards, one weighted and one non weighted. As a complement to Kronos, Hydrasynth has in its favor an incredible sounding synth engine with many options and polyphonic aftertouch--very rare! I have thought about getting one myself. Not in its favor: it is ...

Dialing in my Rhodes sound

One of the best things about Kronos, I think, is the ep1 engine. Now, my benchmark for a satisfying Rhodes sound (at least to play solo) is Stephen Halpern's tone from his early albums like Crystal Suite. Halpern did use a suitcase model, and while I have found it mildly annoying that Korg haven't ...

But then again, why go Kia when you have a Mercedes. Yeah, really. But they did have a nice CZ-1 a while back, and for a good price. I could have also had an Ensoniq MR 76. I did think about it. Also a Kawai K5000W--I wish I had jumped on that one. A week or two before I got the Kronos they ...

As I understand it, fm and pm both modulate the audio wave at ninety or one eighty degrees to it and sound the same except in certain extreme circumstances; in fact, it has often been said that the dx7 really used pm. But modulating between the two, now... I'm still in the process of learning this ...

How many Kronoses (Kronii??) are there now?

Just wondering. It has always been an expensive item, but it has been in production a long time. Mine is pretty new but may turn out to be one of the final ones made. All good things must come to an end, of course. Anyway there is now the Nautilus which probably uses the same mobo and atom chip--or ...

Re: Kronos is the best!

What are your thought’s on the Kronos? I wanted one when they first came out but eventually decided on a software based approach. However I have definitely been in the market for a weighted controller so when I saw my K2 88 on sale for such a very good price I realized I was meant to have one after ...

Are those two keyboards weighted? The Williams is. I actually like that board a lot and would recommend it for beginners and/or tight budgets. It apparently has the same action as the m audio hammer 88 and the kurzweil sp6. My source for this info is the Youtuber known as John Mike ("You know who ...
