Using r3 as a MIDI sound module problems.

I am trying to have my R3 play the midi out from Guitar Pro 5 on my Mac [Running OSX Tiger]. I have so far been completely unsuccessful, The Midi outs in Guitar Pro are set to 'MIDI OUT' and 'SOUND'. OSX's Audio/Midi setup shows my R3 device fine. Any thoughts? The R3 itself is set up exactly how it ...

Does the sustain on the R-3 work differently to how it does on say, a piano?
will it not mix all the notes together in a mess like an echo?

My Korg R-3, On the way from USA.

I just ordered my R-3 from american Ebay.

Are there any weak points i should look out for when it arrives?

Also will i be okay just using the USA PSU and a travel adapter?
