Good performance? If by "good" you mean "incredibly irritating" then you're spot on! I suggest, BAb00n, you start with a cheap disposable control surface (£50 or so) and a demo of Reason 4. This is assuming, of course, that you have a reasonably decent PC. Check out the M-Audio Oxygen 8 or something ...

Whilst it's still on my clipboard, try the reason 4 demo: http://www2.propellerheads.se/download/files/ReasonDemo_mac.zip or actually you might want the Windoze version: http://www2.propellerheads.se/download/files/ReasonDemo_win.zip Reason 4 makes lovely sounds, and Cubase 4 rots in its box ...

I second Fast Track as a good choice, although I'd go for: http://www.gear4music.com/M-Audio_Fast_Track_Audio_Interfacesefv_2.html and not the Pro. Keep the M-Audio MIDI jobby because you may want to record MIDI data and play it back to your MK so you can record, tweak/quantize and then playback ...

The MicroKorg makes a neat little midi control surface if you get a MIDI->USB cable but you would need something like Reason to actually produce sounds with it using a PC. Your mileage hooking up the MicroKorg to guitar amps may vary, god knows it's capable of a bounty of dirty sounds that would ...

The Korg Pa2X both sounds fantastic and is addictively playable- I don't think anyone can reasonably dispute that! I don't find myself actually being productive with it, though, I just end up tinkering with the sounds for hours. Most of the style pre-set sounds use 2-3 layered patches and sound ...

I've had one for a couple of days now that I am attempted to review, I'm completely new to professional arranger keyboards and have been swamped by the features in the Pa2X. Fortunately the Pa2X doesn't want to be complicated and doesn't need to be. I keep finding a pre-set style that I enjoy and ...
