Well I got a keystep yesterday and it is fantastic! I sequence a line, record it into the rm1x and move onto the next channel/synth. And not a screen in sight! Thanks for the suggestions

Thanks for pointing that thing out - looks cheap enough that I think I'll give it a spin as it may do everything I want anyway!

*edit - oh hang on - it only does one sequence at a time

Thanks for the detailed reply Poumtschak! Sounds OK for what I want - but I don't think I'd pay full price for one just yet. I'm still using a Yamaha RM1x as a sequencer but love the Korg electribe workflow (and that arpeggiator!) so would really love one with a bit more of a serious sequencer. But ...

Thanks I read that and also the manual but there is nothing about setting a midi channel per part or polyphonic sequencing of multiple external synths and whether e.g. you can record parts in from an external keyboard as with a more traditional sequencer etc. So looking for anyone's experience of ...

Electribe Sampler as a polyphonic midi sequencer

I recently sold my original ESX as it was no good for sequencing external synths as it only had 2 monophonic parts. I've been looking at the latest electribe sampler and wondering what it is like for sequencing external synths. How many synths can you sequence on different midi channels and is there ...

My ESX is also very noisy. I've tried replacing tubes as well but like you say the noise is even on the 3/4 outs so this was no help. One of the new tubes blew up not long after I got them so I'm back on the original tubes now which sound better (hotter, more saturation) anyway. The noise is so bad ...

Can't help with the fuse sorry but I can tell you that all ESX are the same no matter where bought. I bought mine in the US and just bought the Australian power supply to power it.

I got my SM card off the vistan ebay seller an it worked fine. I have a feeling though that the biggest card the esx supports is 128MB. The card reader was a bit of trouble to track down. I bought 2 or 3 cheap ones off ebay that claimed to read them but didn't before eventually finding one in a ...

OK a closer look has un-worried me - yes it's not much of an esx. It certainly sounds a lot like one though. Also Valve Force is silly enough as it is (my opinion only) - emulating it is hilarious!

Had a quick listen... for Sound clip 03.mp4 it sounded like it's a sampled waveform (incl PCM) which would explain why any repetitiveness speeds up when a higher note is played. For unison.mp3 then same thing - if you're playing back sampled waveforms across multiple pitches together then you will ...

If you have a good bass sample then it will sound good but you have to keep it static - you can't change it too much because the filter is pretty weak. I use an external analogue synth for bass (DSI evolver). The thing is the esx plays back waveforms fine but as soon as you put the filter on it the ...

yes i hope these sort of grooveboxes never die and incorporate both sampling and analog synthesis in the future - like the vaporised boomchik promised! But the esx is the closest I've found to my "dream machine" so I hope korg continues to produce these most usable though not always the best ...

you need a smart media card, a card reader/writer, and preferably the esx wav organizer http://www.skratchdot.com/esxwaveorganizer/home.php
And a knowledge of how to cut up songs into loops using software like soundforge or wavelab etc

OK I got the Groove Tubes and have run some comparisons. The stock tubes (the EH's) have a lot more gain than the GT's. (I think because of this) they also tend to distort when pumped. The GT's have a lot more dynamic range when driven and a fair bit more separation overall though this is only ...
