Great thread! My ears have gotten quite used to the (insert appropriate word...harshness, brittleness, compressed, lacking warmth, etc.) of digital media and I love the instant random access that it affords. However, once in a while I will play some music on my high-end Sony cassette player in Dolby ...

I see the incredible capability of the Kronos. I have said this 500 times. IMO, the Kronos is a bargain for what it does. 4 years in the marketplace has also increased my regard. But my perspective goes back 55 years not 5 or 10 years. So that frame of reference might be a differentiator. Yeah man ...

Sad to hear about these delays mates. Must just be the 73's and the 88's though. I had no idea that there were any delays in getting the K2. I went into Guitar Center in Dallas last week and strolled out with my new K2-61. I was quite happy that it already had 3.0.2 SW installed. There were a couple ...

What a gas! Back in the 90's, I also spent an inordinate amount of time in local music stores, playing and lusting after every new piece of gear that came out. But I didn't have a lot of extra cash and had to get only the gear that met my immediate needs. I continued in this fashion up through the ...

Even though I don't have a KRONOS, I have both Catalyst 1 and Reincarnated in my old OASYS and can say without doubt that I have got a whole lot of mileage out of both sets. The way the modules and sounds are assigned to the vector joystick, ribbon controller, S1 +S2 and the X-Y joystick are top ...

Aw, I think we're just going after mice nuts here. If a synth sounds bloody great, the logo could look like an old washing machine for all I care and I would still buy it. As far as mindless change for the sake of change goes, I blame it on the marketing departments. These numb nuts think they can ...

Evolution is good! Here hear! Yes indeed. Come to think of it, I don't sound the same as I did back in the 90's either! Got me on a Prog bent here. I went and put all my favourite Flower Kings, Marillion, Porc Tree, and Spock's Beard on my Walkman so I can listen and jam out when I travel. I ...

Good one's all JK! Glad to see Transatlantic mentioned. I have a DVD of them performing live and it rocks. Also the FK's DVD called "Instant Delivery" from 2006 is just superb. I think the one that surprised me the most was Porcupine Tree. Wilson's unique blend of Rock & Prog reminds me of a cross ...

I'm quite surprised that nobody mentioned Gentle Giant. Ah yes the Giant. Quite an impressive blend of Rock and Classical for sure. Octopus is still on of me fave's from them, especially "Raconteur Troubadour" and "Dogs Life". I also enjoyed a lot of King Crimson as well and I see that Vlad put up ...
