How exactly do you access all this added functionality?

The X coordinate sent in as a CC value gets mapped via the chosen scale and is 'quantised' to different ranges as a result. This makes it kind of tricky to set up a mapping (as per the sonicstate video) but it's possible if you stick to one scale. I think the main 'philosophical' problem with midi ...

Mr36, I was just thinking about your requirements for pedal operation and I realised I forgot to point out that there's no external midi command to arm for recording. Neither does external pad X-Y input get recorded even when you manually press a KPRO record button. Does this put you off the idea ...

It's funny (peculiar) how the KPRO keeps painting people into a corner. You can't help wondering if it's a cock-up or a conspiracy. I have a whole bunch of midi ports on my PC that I routinely bash from Visual Basic, so I'm used to writing special programs to do patchbay translations and ...

Just read the manual through. Not much use on its own, but you should be able to set up a data map in midiox to convert program changes into note events if you don't mind enlisting a PC. (see http://www.midiox.com/). Alternatively it'd be a wonderful little PIC project to program up if you were into ...

Have you got a particular pedal device that issues CC numbers or program changes in mind?

Unfortunately you appear to be stuck with note on/off commands for the bank selects. You can use the computer based editor software to alter the note values (in the EXT.CTRL & GLOBAL>CC MAP tab) but there's no way to switch to CC numbers for the buttons or notes for the other controls. Shame there ...

I've just begun to work with external MIDI control and the first thing that's tripped me up is not being able to record external X-Y input. So I would like to add to the range of CC responses - remote record arming (useful for foot control) and treat external X-Y the same as actual pad input when ...

I'm glad to see a broad range of attitudes emerging in this debate. However there is still a very unusual 500lb Gorilla in the room that can't be ignored: The 2010 KPRO appears to have been produced as a 100% re-use of a 2006 hardware design that was probably specified a good bit earlier than that ...

I don't think anyone could deny that there's a rapidly forming consensus about the perceived deficiencies of the KPRO. I hope this in itself leads to some improvements by way of future firmware update. However, the hardware is a "given" and memory size, speed of processing and peripheral interfaces ...

FRAKK!!!! I tried this and still does not work...damn this sucks!!! is there some one else that has better input on this. This a real problem! My problem that prompted this thread was evidently a bug in the Korg midi driver utilities circulating at the time of the KPRO launch. The link Mr36 ...

You're welcome, Mr. Radian. Are you still returning it then? It's still hanging on here (by a thread). I think I'll give it a while to see if there's a firmware update and if not ebay it. In the meantime I've begun a little electronics project specifically for external midi control. I'll be posting ...

They seem to have updated the driver for the KPro now and it has worked. http://www.korg.co.uk/downloads/driver/dl_driver.asp Hoooooraaaay! That's probably because I just arranged to return my KPRO. Pity notification of this "update" didn't make it through tech support. Anyway, that's fixed ...

Alot of talk about Shpongle here (which is great), but don't forget about the equally brilliant Younger Brother - also a Simon Posford project. http://www.discogs.com/artist/Younger+Brother True, and let's not forget Raja Ram's venerable influences :D The reason I went into some depth about the ...
