I think that many people expect too much from the microSAMPLER and then are let down by its capabilities. Probably the only alternative in this price range is a (second-hand?) computer based solution. You get A LOT of extra functionality, but of course, it's not a 'normal' instrument anymore. Most ...
but the mpc1000 can share some if not most of the functions of its elder siblings if open sourced
Yup, I know :) , I nearly bought an MPC1000 because of the features it offers with JJOS. Some people on this forum are frustrated with the microSAMPLER, and I think it is because ...

I guess it depends on your expectations... I absolutely love the microsampler, because it enables me to have a small, portable instrument with very high quality sounds. In addition, creatively using various sampled sounds as instruments is so easy with this device. I think that most people who don't ...

Hi, that's not really possible as far as I know. You can, however, change the pitch of a sample with e.g. 12 semitones. This way, the effect is the same as shifting octaves. (It probably won't send out different MIDI values however.) But beware, because changing pitch (in addition to the "pitch ...

Hi, I'm very happy too with the sample packs from Korg. It's always nice to hear which surprises they have each time they release a pack. Personally, I don't care about the loops and sound FX, but many of the instruments are nice. In particular the synths, a Mellotron flute with not too much vibrato ...

I hope I understand you correctly, but using the 'Semitone' setting, you can change the pitch of the sample played back with the 'C4' key. Using a value of '-4', it plays back at the original rate when using the 'E4' key.
When it's hooked up, it's basically an experimental tone module
I don't come from the days of sampling... but I must say that I am continuously surprised with the results of sampling a nearly random piece of music, then changing the pitch, applying effects and/or ...

Good to hear someone who is liking the device as well! I must say I never try to produce a full track on the microSAMPLER. Transferring a track to the PC after the first parts have been done is much better. So for 'quick sketches' it is quite OK, and I don't feel the need for a large sequencer. But ...

Workarounds for 'one keyboard part' issue?

Hi, Like many others, I find the only 'one keyboard part' limitation one of the more frustrating of the microSAMPLER. (For the rest, it is really an ideal piece of equipment!) The reason is that, for many songs/beats, I'd like to have both a bassline and a keyboard part, combined with drums and ...

Hi, yes I drop the samples to 24 kHz (to me that is hardly noticeable, drop it to 12 kHz and it starts to sound completely different though). Assigning samples to keys is extremely simple with the free software. There are two sample playing modes as you may have read: - Keyboard mode: take one ...

You're right, looping is possible, but I meant specifying separate loop points AFTER starting the sample and BEFORE the end of the sample is not possible. It is a common feature in most samplers, but not included in the microsampler. If you have LONG samples of specific instruments, they can indeed ...

Good unlooped samples of classic synths

Hi, I am very happy with my microSAMPLER. I mainly use it for sounds of traditional instruments or synths. These are generally multisampled (so I don't really use 'keyboard mode' too much). So now I have for example a very affordable and compact Mellotron ;). Does anyone know other good sources ...
