And I can place Kronos only on upper tier where it is not that easy to use touchscreen, and PC editor is pretty much the only way I can comfortably edit programs.

You have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE how much money it costs to create this library. Plan for a recording session, conduct a recording session, countless hours editing samples, etc. Do comparable products give some clue? I.e. there already are many software sample libraries that required same or even bigger ...

Bottom line, to some degree, is: 1. Does the sound and playability of the piano in question satisfy and exhilarate you? If the more expensive piano is more satisfying, then perhaps you would buy it. If you find the less expensive piano to do the job for you, then by all means, purchase it. All ...

What about Ivory II Italian Grand - $179 list price, with actually much more sampling work. Or individual pianos from Galaxy II, they are about 150$ and have about twice amount of samples than Kronos pianos, also with fully chromatic sampling.

Re: My Kronos impressions

I tried programming my own CX3 presets, and yes, it's really possible to make it sound better than factory presets. Now I quite like it. Also, I found out that "Vintage Keyboards" expansion is actually piano/EP/clav samples that were introduced in M3 XPanded upgrade. They are mostly redundant, but ...

My Kronos impressions

Today my Kronos 61 has finally arrived! And after playing it for few hours I can tell my first impressions about it. First of all, sound quality in general is amazing. It has that "fullness" that last time Korg had in Trinity and which was lost since then in Triton and M3. Now I can hear it again in ...

Unfortunately Korg is not a computer company, they are music company, so the concepts they use for their computer interface are highly outdated. No multitouch, no scrolling pages, no parameter change by dragging finger, etc, they make interfaces like 30 years ago with monochrome text screens, it's ...

So why should Korg's 'damper resonance' not include notes which are held down other than with the damper pedal? Because resonance with damper pedal up cannot be sampled like resonance with pedal down, there are too many note combinations, so it has to use some physical/acoustic modeling. And Kronos ...

Would you like to share your knowledge with us and tell us why the 'True' Damper Resonance on the KORG Kronos is not "string resonance"? Kronos has resonance only if you press damper pedal, and it is resonance of all strings at once. Real piano also has resonance when damper pedal is not pressed ...

I don't see any reasons to consider Fantom G, not even compared to Kronos, but in general. For most applications, there are better or equal but cheaper products from Korg/Yamaha/Kurzweil and even from Roland themselves. And if we compare FG to Kronos, then Kronos simply blows away FG pretty much at ...

Are these even more new samples of pianos and EPs? Not that I think it is bad, I always like variety, but why would Korg develop SGX-1 and EP-1 and at the same time sample more new pianos/EPs for yet another sample library? Isn't it overly redundant?

It appears you dismiss Radias as purely a VA, but that is really the tip of the iceberg I know very well of Radias capabilities, I have keyboard Radias for 2 years and programmed a lot of sounds on it, and I still think that Radias and EDS (or HI or ACCESS or whatever) are completely different ...

M3 is not only an all-in-one workstation, it is also a rompler from Korg, for which having great synth sounds is expected.

EXB-RADIAS is good for VA-ish type of sounds. But VA is not the only kind of synth sounds in existence. Korg, particularly, is known for the beautiful pad/motion sounds, leads, "fast synths" based on its rompler engine and many those sounds cannot be easily recreated on a VA. See for example sounds ...
