I think South-Pak manufactures a case that work work. Take a look at their cases at http://www.south-pak.com/products/hard-cases/. They have a live chat where you can ask about specifics.

Have you thought about adding some foam to your soft case? Adding a layer to the inside will protect whats inside and should help take care of some issues you mentioned.

I would go with the SKB 1SKB-C3613. It's less than $150! South-Pak has a good collection of long cases.
