I had the chance to try a JD-Xi together with my E2S. The MIDI implementation of both machines is weak and inflexibile. Because of this fact I think it is impossible to create a useful setup w/o any additional hardware boxes (like MIDI filters) Both machines could be a dream team. Apparently ...

It's just sound, so volume levels are the only variable - unless you have some sort of EQ enabled in iTunes.

Re: syncing sq-1 with DAW (logic)

I've tried everything but the SQ-1 doesn't seem to get midi clock from my DAW (logic). When the SQ-1 is running the notes show up in my DAW. So i know the DAW and the SQ-1 are connected. When the DAW is running at a certain tempo the SQ-1 does not follow. Anyone any ideas? Any info is really ...

Loving my JD-Xi to bits. Especially the digital SuperNatural parts are amazingly powerful and deep. Roland doesn't seem to be doing it, and I don't want a computer in or near my studio, so I've set out to create a proper editor for the JD-Xi. It's going to be a native iPad app (fully CoreMidi ...

What I'm saying is they started over from scratch on new hardware so every single feature is being coded. I'm not defending them not adding all the features from the old boxes, just saying that it's not like they just put the old OS on the new box and decided to remove features. Actually, copying ...

THAT is the issue here. These are not a matter of buggy or broken products. None of the things you mention are "fixes", but upgrades. This is about demanding that KORG provide upgrades over time, adding value to a product at no extra cost. Why would they do that? They would do it because they've ...

The thing is, the E2 has a powerful ARM9 micro-controller in it that could do anything from running an Electribe, to a video camera, to a smart phone. There is 0 probability that Korg COULDN'T fix a lot of the things that we would like fixed. And you were not aware of these limitations at the time ...

I did not say things were "better" back then but I will go ahead and say so now. They were. The 90s were only "better" if you had a mega-budget. Today, if you have €1500 to spend and you do so wisely, you can have a [nearly] recording-grade setup. And that budget even includes the PC with recording ...

Back in the 90s, companies released fully featured products and didn't expect people to pay to be beta testers. Back in the 90s, there was no internet or social media. Companies were a lot more tight-lipped and inaccessible than today. Technology push was the industrial mantra, basically meaning ...

True, but that's a relatively small sacrifice. CV/gate is a *lot* more useful than those three plop sounds.

Yes, you need a cable that merges CV and gate (and earth) into a single jack. Somewhat annoyingly Korg picked a wiring layout that is as exotic as they could think of. But the cable type mentioned above works like a charm... And they're only €5 on Ebay so no biggie. Just remember that normal video c ...

Not if its like the ES-1. Yeah it would have been better if theyd have given you that. But I actually missed that master delay on the ESX/EMX, the delay options on its send effects were just not the same, that old delay was wicked! Yeah.. It's a nice delay effect. But it's like "You want ketchup ...

Nice idea! I was almost tempted to make one myself, but shipping costs are almost as expensive as the entire cover.. Which is a bit of a ripoff in this age of "free worldwide shipping" :-(
