yeah the EMX has a bunch of drums.. and nice synths.. imho its really the perfect ready to go with alot of deeper things that can be done kind of instrument groove box. You should be able to get the smart media version for 100$ cheaper and the SD version's only advantage is the new power source IF ...

Ive been running my electribes through guitar pedals for awhile..
A good place to start is with boss pedals and then go to loopmasters and you can get some custom stuff made which will change the whole picture of what can be done.

How big is the factory .ESX with the patterns?
