Thanks.. Just wondering too about something demonstrated in the promo video.. They are playing the sampled Piano and are telling us that the samples are being playing directly from the hard drive and are not held in ram. Advantage is the ability to have very large sampled instruments.. Question ...

I proposed along time ago that the standard 16 channels that we use could be extended to unlimited simply by tagging the manufacture I.D. example: setup1 Korg Kronos roland fantom G Yamaha motif.. lets say the kronos is the sequencer we use we record 16 midi channels of the kronos.. Now we record 16 ...

So in reality the lower poly engines like the STR-1 and the MS20EX have a heavier payload where as using a combination like

CX-3: 200 voices
PolysixEX: 180 voices
SGX-1: 100 voices*3

Would give you many more poly which would be an average of 160 poly between the 3 if use together

Well then your just one of those people with a little more sense not to be looking for the all in one solution as a replacement and as it should be,
an addition to what you already use.

Thanks for that... So are we saying that in a 16 midi channel recording on the kronos that poly is restricted to each engine that is in use or shared example channels 1-4 use SGX-1 engine which has a max of 100 poly.. because im using 4 SGX-1 is then this 100 poly shared between these 4 channels ...

I'm not sure on the specifics though, I've not read the bits about what you mention something about 'dual stereo' on the SGX-1. yeah its in the fine print at the bottom Maximum Polyphony*1*2: SGX-1: 100 voices*3 EP-1: 104 voices HD-1: 140 voices AL-1: 80 voices CX-3: 200 voices STR-1: 40 voices MOD ...

So are we say then that if i have a midi setup of 16 track and are using STR-1 this reduces the kronos to a 40 voice poly especially if this patch is heavily used and if i have cx3 on another channel i wont have 200 poly because str-1 is in use. so if we do the math.. between the two.. for every ...

How is kronos organised file managment songs projects etc

Anyone know how kronos handles sounds songs patches etc..

is everything just dumped in to one place or can you have different setups patch lists samples etc for individual projects etc..

what happens when you have exhausted existing RAM etc..
