If you are going the VST route, the B5 V2 Hammond emulation from Acousticsamples does a pretty convincing replication of the authentic Hammond B3/Leslie 122 combination. I did own a B3 and 122 for 25 years until I could not lug it around anymore. A laptop, software and a keyboard controller will now ...

I read his message and I think he's right. Do I spend almost $5K for a new Kronos in 2018 or buy a laptop, VST software and a 61 key AKAI Advance MIDI keyboard. It's cheaper and looks like a pretty slick configuration. hummmm. Graydon

Komplete 11, laptop & midi controller Akai Advance 61

Seriously considering the above set up in 2018 versus buying a Kronos 61 or 76. I am happy with my keyboard set-up but I am thinking that VST is looking really interesting when the Akai Advance 61 can trigger Komplete and other libraries pretty easily, the Youtube videos are pretty interesting. Sure ...

Thanks Joe, sounds like they went down the path of many bands, achieve some level of success and then fizzle out after a number of years. I think the music business is pretty tough to excel in, not unlike careers in professional sports, not too many original bands make 30+ years without their share ...

Spartacus Triumvirat

I was looking back through over 40 years of my musical career when I started out as a keyboard player in a small high school rock band, back in the 1970s when I was totally taken away by The Nice, ELP, Wakeman & Yes, Genesis, these were by hero's (Emerson, Wakeman, Banks) and had such an influence ...

Wow, what a terrific story, congratulations ! Just goes to show you that with a lot of determination and a bit of luck, anything is possible. I think it was Mark Twain who once said "success is 5% inspiration and 95% perspiration" or something like that. I have always liked the idea of Tribute Bands ...

Is Music your full time occupation, part time or just fun

I got into a band in high school in the 1970's many moons ago (I am 61 now) and wound up playing gigs on the weekends in Toronto, Ont., played keyboards at the usual number of old "watering holes" downtown Friday and Saturday nights, which paid for many university years of education. Through the ...

That is very true, he does have a Hammond SK1 in his arsenal of keyboards playing live. I sat in the 2nd floor Gallery front row and only saw him use the SK1 on 1 occasion and it was a regular sounding organ maybe 4 full drawbars on slow speed (Leslie). The main Hammond B3 solo's were definitely on ...

Rick Wakeman who I recently saw live in Toronto last month, used a Korg Kronos 2 for "Roundabout" a classic Yes anthem thick with rock organ, obviously he or a programmer was able to tune in or design a B3 Hammond sample with C3/V3 chorus, sure sounded fantastic to my ears. If I had my eyes closed ...

Hello Jeremy !, I was luckily enough to own a Hammond B3 and Leslie 122, then a Leslie Pro 900 for over 25 years. I do not own a Kronos and my Krome does not have any drawbars, it certainly will never replicate a Hammond B3 and Leslie. After really missing my B3, I bought a Hammond SK2 from Long ...

Dan Stesco is your man and very helpful too, I have 3 of this libraries and they are excellent. It might be difficult to find a really authentic B3 with C3/V3 chorus for that gritty B3/Leslie rock organ on the Krome but you can trigger vibrato speed with the controller. If you are looking for a good ...

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I am only a novice unfortunately in terms of programming and would prefer to pay a pro like yourself to have it done and send me a small collection of these types of sounds to upload onto my M3 or Krome card. I am not much at tinkering and layering samples ...
