You can start with both oscillators set to Sawtooth on the same octave (16'), with a light detune between them. LPF Filter Cutoff reduced to 4 or 5 and Peak around 7 or 8, modulated by EG2 (fast attack, medium decay, low sustain, fast release).

MS-20M Kit is coming ???

Would you like to assemble a tabletop version of this amazing synth, with PWM, FM, and Sync right out of the box, filter selection switch, extra connection points on the patch panel including junction jacks, 1v/oct connectors, etc. ?

And what about a "Volca size" version of the SQ-1?

Actually I couldn't reproduce some of the patches perfectly on both mini and Kit. Somehow the synths are just not sounding the same.

Glad you're watching the tutorials! Thanks! :)

No problems here regarding the keyboard structure, but two keys on my mini are not working very well. The second C key from left to right releases the contact too soon and the C# next to it has to be pressed more deeply to trigger the sound.
I'm waiting for a new keyboard from Korg.

Hi! I've tried some of those patches and they sound great. I hope Gianni continues the series! I've made a series of eight videos with a complete tutorial, but as they were made for the Brazilian distributor, I speak portuguese. I'm planning subtitles though. But since the synth is really "visual ...

I have an MS-20 mini since its release and I've just assembled my kit :) Going for the extra cables this week. I wouldn't sell the mini! Great experiences to come for sure! But they sound a little different, at least my units, which is not bad at all for me. I've noticed a couple of things.. I didn ...

1. Take the Mod Wheel Output and plug it in the VCA Control Input. 2. Take the MG Triangle output and plug it in the VCA Input. 3. Take the VCA Output and plug it in the Freq Input. 4. Set the MG Waveform control to center (Triangle). 5. Set the MG Frequency control to 4. 6. Raise the EG1/EXT knob ...

I also had that experience last week. As I said, sync loss is random in my case. Most of the time it's ok, with the pro TRS cables both for sync and audio output, but I also had them going ok with no audio conected and suddenly they went crazy when I plugged the last audio cable in the Volca Beats ...

For monitoring, I use a "Y" splitter, a mixer (Mackie 2408) and my old but great E-mu interface (1818m). For recording, I usually connect one of the "Y" splitter plugs directly into the mono input of my Avalon preamp (output to the E-mu interface). The Volcas through tube preamps sound really fat!

I've just made the test with Filter Peak at max, tweaking the Cutoff Knob and it was ok. Bass was in sync all the time. Connection - Beats>Bass>Keys. I've played for about half an hour with no issues. Strange enough, like I said, last week I had odd sync problems. To be more detailed, sometimes I ...

I've been experimenting sync loss with all three volcas since last week. Tried to exchange positions in the sync chain and it got it better with Bass>Beats>Keys. Volca Bass seems to be the most problematic in receiving sync from Beats or Keys. I can say the thin wires which come with the units are ...
