Thanks for all the advice and suggestions, guys. I really like the look of the 505. I do have an old SP-202 floating around somewhere but remember not being blown away by it last time I dusted it off.

Electribe Samplers and Long Samples

I bought an Akai MPX8 thinking that it would be perfect for my need. However, it turned out to be completly lacking in every area where it mattered. Basically, what I want is a stand-alone sample player (not tethered to a computer) that I can use to manually trigger the occasional *long* atmospheric ...

I've got no suggestions but I just wanted to say it's an awesome idea! I'd love to see how it turns out.

Hey SeedyLee, have you tried the miditribe mod? I added midi in to my monotribe and control it via my EMX. It works brilliantly and just outputs Synth 1 from the EMX into the Monotribe (therefore it's not restricted to the 8 beats). The only CV synth I've got is an old MG-1 and it's output is S ...

You can load individual patterns from the SM card and save them over existing patterns (yes, it is very time consuming to do it this way). If there are old patterns you want to keep, be careful that you don't save over them with the new ones. Do a backup first you should be ok.

It works brilliantly. I installed the miditribe mod (just the midi in) and it couldn't be simpler. By default the EMX will send drum parts 1, 3 and 6 to the monotribe kick, snare and hihat. Synth part 1 controls the monotribe's synth line. The timing is perfect (no latency) and it plays in tune. You ...

I removed a little of the chaos from my kaossilator by printing a grid onto a clear plastic sheet and placing it over the top of the XY pad. It is still just as responsive. You could probably do the same with the ribbon on the EMX. The only drawback to this was that I had to take apart the ...

K-Pro as MIDI Controller

Has anyone used the K-Pro as a MIDI controller for synths? If I was to connect the K-Pro MIDI Out > MicroX MIDI In could I use the touchpad to control the sounds on the MicroX? Can you record loops with the external sound? If so, can you then change the sound on the synth and record another loop? (I ...

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a similar question. I picked up a cheap MC303 and have heard they have sync issues so should be used as the master clock. I'm not really sure how MIDI Thru works and am wondering if the following is right? MC303 MIDI Out > EMX MIDI In (to control tempo only of ...

Has anyone tried one of these? I've got the Amazing Machines mod (and it is awesome) but I'm curious to know the effectiveness of the one Sauce linked to. It just seems too good/easy/cheap to be true.

And could it work as MIDI out?

Hey Glorious_T,

are you aware that the KPro only allows for a 16 beat loop at most?

I agree with mojofunk; the EH 2880 looks awesome.

Thanks punpkomg.

So, it looks like a pretty involved process:

1. Format SM card

2. Save all existing data to card

3. Load all data from UK Bass pack

4. Load saved pattern D33 (from step 2) and save to internal memory

5. Repeat step 4 for D34 - D64

Whew! Does that sound right?

Hi guys,

I've finally got around to ordering a smart media card and plan on installing this when it arrives.

Obviously this will overwrite the existing preset patterns and songs but which ones? Are the patterns I made at risk of being over written?

Cheers,
Matt

I highly recommend adding midi to the Monotribe and connecting it to your EMX. I installed the one from Amazing Machines in about 10 minutes. Just connect the midi out of the emx into the monotribe (miditribe?) and it syncs perfectly. The default midi out channels are: Drum Part 1 = Monotribe Kick ...
