you could map it to knobs too... at least a couple of built-in patches do that (some organs, he harpsichord and at least an acoustic piano). Still sub-optimal, I know! :)

Ah, yes... I know the guy you're talking about... love his videos: he's always so genuinely excited about the instruments... and they're very deep reviews as well. Nowadays he's got english subtitles too! Anyway, I must admit KMA's harmonica patch, if played correctly could maybe even be mistaken ...

A Melodica is pretty close to an harmonica, construction-wide (I've got a soprano Melodica made by Hohner, and it sports a reedplate almost identical to harmonicas'), but being the reeds enclosed in a plastic enclosure the sound is somewhat muffled. Also, the airflow is much more regular compared to ...

I'm not quite sure of what you mean there. Are you asking if you can send .PCG backup files of the styles via MIDI (I don't think you can) of if you can use styles to trigger external instruments via midi (e.g.: use another board's drums instead of KMA's)? I think you can actually do the latter, but ...

The ROM size itself are just the waveforms that make up the patches. I'm pretty sure all the ROM waves that are in the microSTATION are also in the M50, though I remember reading somewhere that the microSTATION has additional drum samples not featured in the M50. but that might be wrong though ...

I did, but in a very limited way... meaning I connected it to my iPad (via iRig MIDI or usb w/camera connection kit, can't remember which!) and it ust worked... since I was using iGrand Piano I didn't use knobs or anything else than just the keys. If you want I can do some specific test for you ...

microSTATION and M50: sound comparison

This is one post I would've liked to see when considering my M50, so I thought to write it myself: someone might find it useful. So we all know rhe microSTATION and the M50/M3 share the same lineage , but how do the micro's 49Mb EDSi ROM really fare against M50/M3's 256Mb EDS one? Pretty well ...

New M50 owner

I've found a fantastic deal (41% off for a new unit) for an M50 last week and I got myself one. I chose the 73 keys version... after years of 61 I wanted to expand my range a bit (useful for those mega-splits, I thought). My thoughts so far: 1. Korg's strategy of mini- stuff is a win: I was sold ...

They're not.
They should, however, compatible with the microARRANGER.

Why are we comparing a Jazz guitar with a distorted guitar? Distorted/electric guitar –while completely serviceable- are, anyway, not the strongest point of the KMA... especially compared with microSTATION's ones -its amp modeling simulations really make a difference there. Well, good thing I ...

I'm a bit envious! I would've liked to get their bonus Virtual B3 when I bought my microSTATION :-). The repairman here, however, substituted KMA's weak cable with a thicker one in a slightly different position, and said it should be ok for a while now... I guess they'll do something similar to ...

I've always found that the only way to get really gorgeous, full pipe organ sound, in whatever synth I've ever put my hands on is to mix and match various waveforms, like Stargazer suggested above – by the way that's more or less the way an actual organ sound's formed, mixing various "register", so: ...

That happened to me as well after a week or so, and it turned out it was an hardware malfunction. Luckily, I have a Korg repair service place just near home. The guy there told me it seems quite a fragile connection cable and it was bound to break sooner or later... So, yes: have a look in global ...
