I've had both. Kronos is ages ahead of the G7 with its synth engines, especially the MOD7 (my love), audio recording capabilities, AMS modulation philosophy, KARMA, and gorgeous user interface. Kronos is a good workstation. The MOD7 is a much better FM synth than what the Montage/MODX can offer. I use external hard drives for backup and large projects. Keeping the original drive as the primary is a good idea..

All Kronos', starting from serial number 00001 to the one on the store shelf, can benefit from the same firmware upgrade file. If you perform the upgrade, your Kronos will be just as modern as a new one.

I might have missed if this has been discussed above, but I need to point out that Kronos main outs are balanced, and you'll get a hotter signal out of them if you use TRS jacks.

It's probably because vocoder is not a very detailed effect on the Kronos whereas VSynth has powerful voice processing capabilities on board.

Pan control is on the amp section of each EXi.

You cannot go far with a Kronos without RTFM !...
