Its not bad pay, but its a gig I really want to impress on. I have though about samping into the kronos, But I dont think the result would be a lot better thant some of the default combination strings unless I sample all the layers of each articulation (some of the articulation are 500mb each :arrow ...

I should also point out that some times I have to use two of the articulations at the same time, Ie trem strings in left and trill strings in the right

Hey, you can can alternate between two articulations on session strings (using a pedal ) and there is keyswitches but thats not an option because of two reasons, one this gig goes really quick, two fast bars of one patch and Im on the next already. So I really just want to be hitting next next next ...

It boils down to me being able to control 8 different (and very large) sounds on my computer from the kronos and Im rtrying to find the best way of doing this. I need to use these 8 sounds throughout the patches

Yes, you can load at the global level but the problem there is that, that instance of kontkat is open all the time through the entire session. I still need to use different articulations from the instance of kontakt (needing different midi chaneels which bring me right back to square one...)

I understand what your saying, but I still think that the external midi should behave the same way as internal sounds, does anyone have asolution for what im after?

I expect it because its what the kronos does internally with the smooth change feature, I would have expected this to transfer over to midi implementation... it doesnt seem that complicated...

Hey, I am purposely sending more than one midi channel so I can have a few instruments open in kontakt to use as I need! The problem is when I move to another program that doesnt have the same midi channels on the notes will hang if I held anything during patch change....

oh and by the way, in Kontakt, I have 8 instruments open that are assigned a midi channel each, but not assigned to any program change... in case that matters!
