I bought my first Kronos 88 in 2009. I'm still playing it. I've replaced all the felts inside of it twice from use. It's become my studio rig. I then bought another Kronos 88 in 2020 which stays packed up for the road. I duplicated all the gear necessary so that the road gear and studio gear are ...

I kinda came up with my own hack glissando from some Korg stock SFX timbres, made a combi. It's pretty cool, way different than the original but I guess that's kind of the whole idea about redoing a song anyway right? Anxious to try it out on the band tomorrow night now!!! The band is outstanding!!

If it's the bit I'm thinking of, an analogue synth was used, with a lot of control knob tweakery. At least that's what it was in this Old Grey Whistle Test version (listen around the 7 minute mark): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8f-Qb-bwlU . That's a very cool live video! Never saw it before ...

Do you mean Frankenstein by Edgar Winter? That was one of the first records I ever fell for, and it still sounds great to me. Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'd like to understand how it was done as well. Yes that it precisely. If i had an analog synth like a Jupiter 8 I could create that ...

Frankenstein Timbre?

Dear Forum Members, I'm curious if anyone might have a custom timbre for that long frequency resonating glissando/LFO effect near the end of Frankenstein (just before the last head section)? I've got a few strange stock timbres but if anyone has something better or close to the original version and ...

Another way is to connect your Kronos as an FTP entity - see the Network tab in Global mode (page 778 in the parameter guide). You can then more quickly copy, delete or move files between your Kronos and your computer, load wave files in Sequencer mode, etc. I'll check that out. I've got a Kronos I ...

Check Syntaur dot com for the felt strip. This worked out great, thank you for the tips especially on the lubricant. I didn't know and would have been tempted to clean it all off only to realize I had none to replace it. I'm interested in getting a tube of it so if you or anyone knows where to get ...

If you replace the entire line of felt, it takes a while since you have to remove all the keys (the whites are locked by tiny safety tabs which must be undone gently), then all the hammers. Especially, be careful NOT to touch the lubricated parts as this type of lube is quite hard to find and ...

Kronos 88 Hammer Stop Felt Replacement

Dear Kronos Associates and friends, A section of keys started hammering metal to metal at my last gig, annoying and intolerable noise really. I'd replaced the hammer stop felt about five years ago for the same reason. So I opened it up and sure enough a section of felt has totally worn out again ...

Thank you Hans! I'm so glad you liked it! Such a rewarding project all the way around. I'm just so amazed at the things we can do these days what with technology and all. Let alone the amazing Kronos! I just bought a second 88 so I can keep one on the road and another at home to compose. My Kronos ...
