That file system

I’ve had a Kronos for six years and never really understood that mad Korg file system. Switched for a Nautilus (lightweight 73 at last) and think I finally get it. The lightbulb moment? You can auto load two KSCs at once! Eg, PRELOAD (the default data) and your own KSC. I was for years wondering why ...

Arpeggiator in combi mode

Moved from Kronos73 to Nautilus 73 for the lighter keyboard. I’m rebuilding about 127 combis for a band and am trying the new arpeggiator. All seems good except has anyone worked out how to run an arp on one combi part but not on another? Doesn’t seem possible to turn the arp on and off on a per-par ...

Auto filter sweep

There must be a way to do this but I can't figure it out! I want to trigger a filter sweep with either a button or set list patch change - e.g. The sweep starts when I switch to a set list slot. It carries on independently of note on- off. I don't want to mess with the ribbon, pedal or knobs as I am ...

Sample it in and put in on a key in a program. When I have to do this I always start out using RPPR and give up in favour of sampling. One problem is that RPPR appears to be quantised to each beat or bar of the tempo of your song. So when playing live you go out of time with the drummer (unless ...

Sound limiters are the spawn of the devil

The band at my wedding was messed up by one of these bastards, and now (some) years on my band's performance at a wedding was! We'd been warned in advance. An 85DbA limiter with red yellow and green lights and autocutoff if we were too loud. Venue forced us to plug into their limited sockets ...

Would be great to be able to have the setlist as a simple list with slots big enough to click, one song per line.
I try to find songs during rehearsal and it is often really hard to see the right one for some reason!
Also - would love to be able to sort a-z etc for the same reason

Small thing - but sorting in Setlist mode. ie I want to be able to select Alphabetical - for when I'm rehearsing from the whole band's setlist, but then revert to whatever list I have set up for a gig. Two setlists doesn't do it because then I have to manage tweaks to the same patch in different ...

I dropped mine - end on (it had been resting against a wall). It was in a case and made a massive bang. An internal cable was partially disconnected and I lost some outputs but Korg fixed it.

No problem with the RAM

All good ideas thanks. Also hadn't thought of mapping to a knob. Doesn't really make sense to use a compressor for this situation though. Talk about a workaround. Why not a combo setting for each channel fade allowing mapping to any source? That's one of the weird things about the Kronos, so much ...

Thanks good ideas - haven't thought of using preamp. It would be a lot easier if in all the Kronos' programming possibilities, there was a way to map a channel fader to the expression pedal, with control over range, minimums and maximums for example.

Run a Monitor out from your mixer into one of the external inputs on the Kronos. But for in-ear you need to have all of the band fairly well-mic'ed. Relying on what comes from the vocal mics doesn't really work. Much better - get a cheapo headphone mixer and run the monitor feed through that. But ...

Pedal possibilities

Been meaning to sort this out for ages. I'm using an Yamaha FC7 expression pedal into the usual socket in the back. I don't set it to global volume because on some patches I might want it to do a Wah or crossfade between channels. I'm playing live and I don't want to fiddle with the Global settings ...

I want one thing. Its a bit wacky. A dual action keyboard. Throw a switch and its weighted, throw it the other way and its a light synth keyboard. Plus a key top trigger option so that a hammond sound will fire at the top of the key rather than the bottom. Thats all (actually that's two things...)

Saving songs just annoyingly!

Is the workflow re saving and loading songs into the sequencer a bit weird or am I missing something. You can't just save a song into memory like a program or combi they have to go onto the disc. To do this you're advised to use Save all - which in effect is a backup function because PCG data stays ...

Surely the weighted/unweighted design is an area where the next generation of keyboards could innovate.

i would pay decent money for a switchable mechanical mechanism that could provide both on a single keyboard. I'd be prepared to accept a less than perfect hammer action if it could be done.
