the Microbrute, just like the Basstation 2, has V/Oct, which will give you unpredictable musicality tonewise or (notewise if you like), since the MS-20 works with Hz/V. Soundwise, I wouldn't write off the Bassstation 2 so easily. I agree it sounds cleaner than a Microbrute, but the overdrive and ...

that's the analog way :)
very nice cards, but a bit impractical especially if you have a lot of patches, including several different patch cable connections to make. nevertheless a good way to start with a patch in a song, twiddle the controls around, and go to the starting patch easily when you need it. lazy as I am I take ...

dim
lol, there's a business in this or everyone it seems
nice tip, but I'll stick with a well lit front panel.
you can't play this box in the dark live unless if you know it by heart

dimming the leds
it would be nice to adjust brightness of the leds according to volume e.g.
but that's just wishful thinking. wearing shades would probably be overdoing it

bright leds
maybe a couple of layers of dark varnish on them may help?
I wouldn't want to throw it out solely because of the bright leds
but now that I'm checking, the leds on the mini are far less brighter

noisy early filters
I'm not sure if you could call the early 'noisy' filters a fault, since they add to the original sound of the early MS-20's. True the new filter available in the kit produces a lot less noise, but to me it doesn't have the character of the early in a sense of being aggressive. I didn't have the ...

nice resource
hi Baward14, I had allready checked out your site quite some time ago. A usefull resource it is indeed (I enjoyed the poor man's duophony a lot :D) and your pages give a very thorough insight into the workings of the MS-20. I'm looking towards chaining 2 MS-20's (a mini and a kit), which is not ...

hi Phabius, I just repeated your experiment with the early filters on the PW control for the Pulse wave on OSC1, and I found the sound cutoff to be almost similar on the Mini (around 7) and on the Kit (around 8). On the LP Filter -again, both early- the Mini 'screams' a bit sooner (around 6) than ...

both the mini and the kit combined
hi all, I have the ms-20 mini for awhile and being happy as a clam with it, but bought the kit last weekend, built it and boy is it a sturdier beast which sounds...pretty much the same. now having both, I'm trying to figure out how they could be patched together in a way to sound a/ duophonic, b ...

dear mr. Ferraro, thank you very much for the tip on the Presonus StudioOne free edition. I just installed it, and got my hardware working with it, after some tinkering... recorded a first track from my Monotribe with it only minutes ago :D I still have to learn all of it's ins and outs, since there ...

thank you sir for the kind feedback :D I still have the original recorded tracks, but I'm going to start anew with the idea, but I'm desperately trying to reconstruct the growling bass from the MS-20 which lacks memory slots, let alone memory banks for patches. fortunately I still have the sequence ...
