You should be able to run a cable from the monotribe sync out to the microbrute gate in. I haven't done this personally, but maybe I'll give it a shot when I get to the studio later.

I use either the Sennheiser HD280 (~$90), or the Shure SRH440(~$100). The Shure's seem a little livelier, but each are decent sounding, well built cans for the money.
