adan:

My Motif ES8 KB is pretty noisy as well. I didn't realize it was so noisy until I was doing a video demo at a fairly low volume and you could hear the keys clicking away as I was playing. I guess that gives me an added excuse for playing ROCK music until I'm pushin' daisies!

Cheers,

You can't grab a fist full of draw bars with all your fingers and make an immediate adjustment to 4 out of the 9 drawbars on an organ. However, only Hammond purists would find this unworkable. So Nord will work. What it comes down to is what are the most important sounds to you and what model fills ...

The Nord products only have "electronic" drawbars, not real drawbars. Some players that have the Nord Electro series say they get use to the electronic ones. If you want the real deal, you have to get a Hammond XK3c or the less expensive XK-1.

cragalan: Years ago, the old joke was "If you aren't loud enough, buy a bigger amp. If your guitar player(s) buy a Marshall stack, buy TWO for your electric piano". Of course, guitar amps really aren't suited for modern KB's. We need to use full range speakers with a 15" woofer, and a horn. If you ...

by Craigalan: As for the SV-1, it has been an excellent gig companion as of yet. The rhodes and acoustic piano, in my opinion, have the electro 3 beat. However, it is clear that the Nord is superior for anything B3 related. Keep in mind that the SV-1 is focused on electro-mechanical pianos. I ...

As long as it does the job for you, great! I've spent quite a bit of money over the years to get a decent PA for playing as a solo. I don't use the most expensive speaker cabinets for gigs, but I don't have to compete with anyone so I keep the volume down. I have a set of JBL cabinets at home and ...

Rodney: What kind of system are you using to amplify your SV-1? I've listened to the demos of the SV-1 and there's some nice acoustic piano sounds. With a strong enough system with proper EQ, you should be able to cut through a mix. Unless you play with two guitar players, both with huge Marshal ...

That sounds like a whole lot of trouble just to get a decent piano sound. You might want to look at a different instrument that gives you the basic sounds you want. You should be able to fire up your KB, push a button, and PLAY. That's what hardware is supposed to do. Demo different digital pianos ...

PA vs. KB amp

This has been debated forever. Personally, KB amps don't cut it for me. "Most" KB's use stereo samples, and "most" KB amps are mono. Of course, there are exceptions to both, but you need to find out what kind of samples your KB of choice has before buying a KB amp, only to be disappointed in the ...

by Jerrytek: You cannot split the keyboard on the SV-1. Sorry. What type of sound splits would you want or use? We can certainly make new sounds for it (based on the existing waveforms, of course), and could consider making some of these for you if needed. So please give some examples and we will ...

Any talk of a "replacement" for the Oasys......

is off the mark. As far as Korg is concerned, the M3 is the "replacement". Its priced so average people can buy it. I doubt we'll be seeing any new synth come out from any of the big 3 for 8 or 9 grand anytime soon. Roland just brought out the V-Piano and guess what the biggest objection is? Its not ...

Wow, tough crowd. You guys don't like Sweetwater because they like to get MAP price for everything! If that's the case, buy somewhere else. I'd say the person that actually made the purchase can ask for a full refund, and have his relation (nephew?) ship the M3 back to the States. That way ...

Yeah, the gear will all match. So the Korg keybed could be your controller for other Midi devices, if you need them. No you're not missing anything. I don't think its revolutionary either, but it beats hell out of being stuck with one configuratioin.

Sewa and Khazul: There will always be new models coming out. What I look for is something that is revolutionary, unique, or ingenious. It helps if it sounds great, I can afford it, and its easy to use. So far, I haven't found ALL of the above in ONE KB. :) I don't know how the M3 will sound "in ...
