Not a vocoder user myself, but as far as the bassline goes..... Single oscillator, set to saw wave, envelopes ---- no attack, no release, lots of sustain, and decay to suit. To fatten up the sound try a saw wave on the 2nd Oscillator, detuned maybe by -6 to -8. Don't have the volume level of the 2nd ...

:) The EM-1 has 144 drum sounds and 50 synth waveforms. You can edit the sounds using cutoff, resonance, drive, pitch/glide etc plus add a roll or effects. The sequencer is quite nice too, it's simplicity isn't necessarily a weakness, plus there's midi out too, so you can sequence your external gear ...

You can pick up the old electribes pretty cheaply on ebay. I use the EM-1, which has both drum and synth sounds.

Links to a couple of example files below. Turn your speakers down first, just in case :) The first file uses a DWG waveform and a saw on osc2, similar to how I described previously. The second file is a modification of sound A52. Both sounds are quick and dirty recordings, no processing was done on ...

Thanks! Actually, I had another play, this time with preset A52. Switched off the arp, added distortion and reduced the amp level as per my previous post. That does work a treat! But also check there's no portamento or too much delay on the preset and that will make a very nice distorted grungy bass ...

Jannick, I tend to create my own patches from scratch on the microkorg. It's a great little synth for just tweaking with. To make a nice distorted bass, start from a fresh patch (use shift-3 to initialise a new patch). Use the mixer control to increase the level of OSC 2, which should be a saw wave ...

money is a bit tight, I know i want the ES-1 for sure and eventually the EA-1. The EM-1 looks like its a mix of both the ES and the EA(although lacking some key features)? The EM-1 isn't a sampler. It has 50 built in synth sounds and 144 drum sounds. The sounds can be edited using the knobs, and an ...

Hi, Distortion on the microkorg is either on or off, there's no direct way of changing the amount. However, the amount of distortion is linked to the amp level. The way I use distortion is to simply turn down the amp level until I get the right amount of distortion that I need. Then change the ...

Hmm, out date equipment.... I just bought a Roland SH-09 to sit next to my microkorg. The SH-09 has an external audio input jack... I wonder what the mK sounds like running through an analogue filter? 8) Anyway, if you buy both synths you can have one for the studio and one for gigs or for portable ...
