ok, we all play keyboards here but I didn't see a thread to think to Luciano Pavarotti and his great voice and personality... so I open this topic just to remember him.

Really sad 
His legacy is gigantic.
While he triggered some controversy, I quite liked his approach and style. He opened the door to opera for many people that never had been touched by it before with his unique ways.
One of the concerts that touched me the most was with Tracy Chapman singing "Baby can I hold you" in Modena Italy in 2000.
Herb Tucmandl (VSL) really wasn't on the ball.... he should have sampled Luciano long ago.... I would not mind a 200Gig LP library

I really hate to say bad things about dead men, specially if they've been really great...
But my piano teacher had the opportunity to work with Pavarotti and she had never told me good things about him "behind the scenes": he was so egocentric, so unsociable with other musician in the theater. I totally trust my teacher, she had studied with Riccardo Muti in the same conservatory and with the same teachers, and she's been Muti's pianist in the orchestra, and had worked a lot with Big Luciano.
Just to add, try to search about his demand list, what he wanted to find in his fitting room when he arrived in a theater...I've been impressed! Of course, nothing more or less who demands a Hollywood star...
Guys, he had been for sure one of the finest voice who had ever singed, and his work to bring opera to all common people have been something great; he'd invented a new style and a new approach to the opera, and his efforts to help poor children is something we will really miss.
But please, remember him as he was, in good and bad aspects.
Just my two cents.
