CDRW - a burning issue.

I've checked previous messages on this topic but can't find the answer. I simply want to burn wav files from the TS hard drive but all I get after formatting and saving to CD is a blank disc. I can do it using a 3.5 floppy but not a CD.

Korg UK can't help except to suggest I try a new CDRW at a staggering £199 but even then they can't guarantee its the CDRW that's the problem.

Is the TS CDRW so unique that it warrants such a high price or is there an alternative? A guy at Korg told me it was the same as the ones used on laptops but I'm not sure, they're all DVD drives now.

Alternatively would a SCSI link to an external non-branded CD/DVD writer work?

I'm stuck as to know what to do and would really appreciate any help at all with this.

Hello.

Sorry to hear your having difficulty.

Is the TS able to format the CD-RW ?.
The disk must be formatted in order for it to be usable.

Also, you have to he careful as to what type of disk you use. If you use something like a Memorex CD-RW, then you can basically forget it. That media is of such low quality that if you search the forums, you will see that it's at the hard to countless problems.

Where if you used a Verbatim disk, or a TDK, you would have no problems at all.

Sharp, thanks so much for your quick response. I've tried 2 makes of CD, TDK and and Sony, without success.

With regards to the formatting, they appear to format ok but do so very quickly, 1 minute max. Also I'm only given the Quick Format option for the CD whereas for the 3.5 disk I have both quick and full format options available.

Excellent, two good disk types. So it's not the CD's then.

Yes, this is normal.

Ok, so you have your formatted disk, so where exactly is your problem starting.

When you select the save option in disk mode to save...lets say.... a PCG file, does the Triton just simply fail giving you an error.

This is where it gets a little confusing because 2 guys from korg tech have given me 3 different ways of saving the wav files, one method is on the korg faq's but non work.

In Disk mode under make Audio CD, the tracks are listed and named as .wav files but the top right drop down doesn't give the option to write to CD, all options are greyed out.

If on the Disk screen I go to the Save tab, the CDD: New Volume appears and I was told by one korg guy to select export sample as AIF/WAV (which didn't work) and by another Korg guy to ignore this and convert the file to ISO format.

Unfortunately, non of the suggestions offered by Korg work and that was when they told me to replace the CD drive.

Hope this gives you an indication of where I've got to.

That's because your not saving data.
For Audio CD's you DO NOT format the disk. You only format the disk if you intend on using it as a data disk, as in saving files to it just as you would a floppy disk.

Exporting ?. So your trying to save wave files that are sitting in RAM, and not on the hard disk ?.

What exactly are you trying to do.
I don't think there is somthing wrong with your Triton. I think your just not explaning what you need, and your getting the wrong advice.

I agree with Sharp. I don't think anything is wrong with your cd drive. You're just trying to burn your WAVE files to cd in order to listen to them , right?? Sharp is right , you don't need to format the disc....I'm assuming you know how to insert the files you want onto the disc burning window....then you just follow the instructions.....hit the write to cd and you'll see the conversion and finalize cd windows appear and that should do it. Don't format the cd!!!!!!!! Peace,

The wav files are on a CD and playing in media player, and the answer was to NOT format the CD. I'd explained to the Korg guys exactly what I wanted to do and both told me to first format the disk.
