Jarre cover performed on M3

Post by rfoshaug »

Hi everyone,

This is a cover of Jean Michel Jarre's Industrial Revolutions Overture, played by me on the M3-73.

As a bonus, you get to see the whole thing in first-person perspective...

Not sure what you used, but the camera could be used to make some nice video tutorials.

I'm afraid it's nothing that advanced or visually pleasing... I just took the old webcam and held it by its USB cable attachment point - between my teeth.

So the video shows how it looks when I play - as seen from my mouth.

It was not very comfortable, and It really would have worked better if I had taped it to a baseball cap, but this is how it was done.

Here's another one:

Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene Part II - first person perspective.

This time it's not only Korg M3 but also Korg Radias (and some EXB-Radias as well).

A question: did you used a sample for the "hammer" intro of Revolutions Overture? Or is it a sound created on the M3?

That one is a sample from the Revolutions album.

All other sounds and percussion on both songs are created on the M3 and Radias (M3 only for Revolutions Overture), but that one would be extremely difficult to program myself. Besides, I wanted to test the sampling functionality of my new M3. 8)

A small trivia: that cling-clang "hammer" sound on Revolutions Overture is, I believe, a preset on the Roland D-50 called "Machine Run". Almost the entire Revolutions album is created with the D-50. Check this out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6Qqxk-uVxzs :)

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone.
