How many had a good install, how many had a bad 1.3 upgrade?

My upgrade all went ok - purchased Mod 7, there was just a bit of touch monitor flicking occuring when pressing buttons - i havnt tried a recalibration yet.
What about when Korg release Brass/Woodwinds EXs - could there be probs with this too - or is this an O/S thing?

Installed using the CD method. I've been instructed several times by Korg Support to overwrite the 1.3 install. One of those was with a burned CD they overnighted me.
I'm still getting the yellow bar when loading in sequencer mode with Exs 2. I'm waiting for the next set of CDs to arrive from them and hoping for the best!

The yellow bar is a known issue, and we're working on a way to fix it. It's a cosmetic problem only; it has no effect on any other part of the OASYS functionality. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.jhibshman wrote:Installed using the CD method. I've been instructed several times by Korg Support to overwrite the 1.3 install. Re installing again...
Please do not reinstall unless:
A. The installation process ended with an error message
or
B. Re-authorization fails after a full format (due to a connected USB device, for instance).
Otherwise, re-installing the OS has no purpose, and will have no effect. There is no point in re-installing over a working installation. No bugs can be introduced during the install; either it works, or it doesn't (the latter presumably due to either a bad CD burn, or because a USB device was connected).
Best regards,
- Dan

Hi Dan, just to make for sure.....I am experiencing more freezes, but without these the update is working fine. So I should not reinstall the OS again?danatkorg wrote:

( I am asking because the first time updating I didn't unplug my usb devices because I followed the instructions in the manual, method 2)
Thanks!

The poll Q
I don't like the poll question, its making the fatal mistake of assuming the 1.3 upgrade was the cause of people's problems. Many people have already stated they had a particular issue before upgrading to 1.3. Which way are they meant to vote? If the upgrade went flawlessly but the issue they had is not fixed in this upgrade, they could surely vote both ways the way the question is phrased.
In a nutshell, I don't think this poll does anything but try to polarize people around a limited set of flawed assumptions. That is not helpful to them or the people that could help them.

I think its a fair question. Either the upgrade worked or it didn't. I would say freezes, flickering screens and such are instances of it not working regardless of weather the upgrade process itself went ok.
I voted that all went well as I'm not getting any weird behavior...and didn't have any before either
With everybody's problems earlier, I was terrified to do the update until I realized it was a minority of folks who had issues and most upgrades went well...from the forum response I thought it was a global issue
I am loving Mod-7 BTW!

I think your worrying over nothing.Charlie wrote:Well - I'm gratefull for this poll, as I'm still not sure wether to install 1.3 now or wait for a minor update. I'm happy to read, that there are quite some people having solely positiv experiences with the update!
I do believe the poll speaks volumes.
MOD-7 is killer too. It's not a DX-7 either, it's WAYYYYYYY more.

Combis are groovy ... I just don't really need to have 1000's of them to hand ... Programs are a different matter.
now, when you would have a little more time....Hi.....hi......why don't you make splendid new Combis, like what you like? and ( we could maybe enjoy your master approach, when they would be ready?)
I am with you with the Combi stuff, we have a lots, but, maybe some could be or more traditional, like Rap, Dance, even Waltz, or Tango, or slow music, even, looking to have one day, just plain Combi, like in an arranger...I am sure, lots of forumers would be happy, with " normal" Combi, I mean, we do have lots of Combi on the Oasys, great for making movie, but for normal dance.... I recall, someone, one day gave us new Combis, very nice, but, they are all for the jazz lovers....
OK, I am lost......

I'd prefer more room for single patches if that was the trade-off.

Thanks Carbon. Korg have told us they can't add more Program banks because it would cut into memory elsewhere, so I've been promoting the idea of allowing people to optional sacrifice Combi banks and use the released memory to store Programs in instead.
Anyways ... back to the topic in hand. Sorry I swerved off the topic with the comments regarding this

Unable to purchase Oasys 1.3
My 1.3 install went fine, used the update option from the global menu. But when I log into Korguser it says:
In order to purchase licenses, please log in first.
After login, only the items you can purchase are displayed.
I sent an email to support, but now have to wait still longer to try out all the new sounds. I find the fading out to be seriously annoying.
After all the issues with 1.2 I really wish they had used more Beta testers.

Took a cup of tea with me in the studio, sat down, relaxed, put the CD in I burnt (and "verified" - under NERO) about a week ago, rebooted, and it took almost like no time. All loaded up ok, loaded banks in from HD (mod-7 pcg) and played some of the sounds. Sound excellent, much better than I thought (my thoughts really, about the OASYS as a whole "much better than I thought!). I'm assuming the "Mod-7.KGE". Is "karma related". (Generated effect)
I noticed the EXi piano didn't load up at start, but only took 19 secs to load in. Good!
Thanks all at korg and Dan etc (for the online help file too with contains info on all the innards!).

I did the update and got the code last week with no problems at all.
I really like the new MOD-7 synth.I started with FM (DX7) many years ago and the MOD-7 is so much more it's unbelievable!!!
I just wish I had more time to spend programming the beast.
