This was introduced with version 1.3, so all could be well with an expanded 2gb on 1.2.3, but maybe a problem with 1.3.

Could be Lou's problem?
An interesting idea, but I don't think so.

Unfortunately, this doesn't guarantee that the disk is error-free.

The other possibility, if you're also having problems with the original master CDs, is that the OASYS CD-ROM drive isn't working properly. The drive itself might not be working, or the connections to the drive might be loose.

I'm just brainstorming, here...

Anyone else still having problems?

Post by jhibshman »

Is anyone else still having random freezes in Song mode? I had another rather embarrassing one at a show last week right as we were starting our set. I now have a renewed interest in this topic.

The freezes are happening most frequently in song mode when I have anywhere from 6 to 9 songs loaded. These songs use 2 audio tracks a piece (one for backing, the other going through an assignable output to the drummer) so they aren't gobbling up a whole bunch of memory. I play along with the board split up into as many as 3 layers.

I am running 2GB of RAM now but I was having these exact same random crashes prior to installing the other stick of RAM. The after market RAM is a 1GB Crucial PC3200. The factory RAM is also a PC3200.

My first troubleshooting step was to load only EXS1 & EXS2 to see if the problem still exists. I haven't tried swapping the RAM locations or run Memtest yet. Its tough to duplicate this due to the random nature of the freezes but it always happens at the worst possible time-during shows; I've now had 3 freezes at shows.

I called tech support last Thursday and they told me to check that the RAM was both the same speed. It is. They are closed today and I have a shoot tomorrow that I'd rather not have issues during.

If the fix is to use matching RAM, I'll just swap out the factory RAM. Can anyone offer any insight or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Jeff
