entire display screen had darkened once on PA 50!!!

Post by avinash »

My PA 5O'S display screen had become totally dark, though it was playing
as required, last year.
But the dealer promptly replaced the display card, free of cost.
Be careful, whenever the WAIT message comes, dont touch the synth,
thats what had caused my problem.

Just ONE DAY after I bought my Pa50, the backlight started flickering, and then finally went off... but played fine. I gave it for repair, and turns out it was a soldering problem. Been fine for the 2 months since....

The screen on my PA 50 is dark when i turn the instrument on, and after 2 minutes it brightens normally. If I turn the instrument off and then turn it on immediatetly the screen is brighten normally. But if I turn it on after 5 days, the screen is dark again and sometimes it brightens after 8 minutes! It seems to me to be something like a battery or something because if I play every day it seems to have no problem but i if i dont play for 2 weeks and then turn it on, it takes even 10 minutes the screen to become bright.

Any help?

The backlight from my pa50 died after 3 days.. had to sent the unit to France for a warranty repair.. but i'm living in the netherlands so i fixed it myself..

2 broken transistors on the voltage inverterboard, not realy a difficult thing to do , but you do need to strip the pa50 allmost to the bone

so now i solved teh problem in 1 houre , beats sending the unit to France

Had similar problem with my PA50 where the backlighting of the display went off. Stripped open the keyboard to access the display board and found out that the high voltage capacitor (after the output transformer) to the LCD display connector was defective. Replaced it and everything was back to normal again.
