I take it we're allowed to normalize our mix to a good volume ... but , i dont know if its the constant chnge in freq's or what but i cant get my tune to a level i'm happy with as it just starts to clip at higher volumes in mp3's.

When i put stuff on myspace the qaulity is f***ed even more , can anyone tell me what soundclicks posting specs are n how well u think the sound of ur tune is carried over .

competition aside , this is going to give me problems , i cant upload wav's ...

Dude, I struggle daily with my mastering because I master on shitty old headphones with no range.

I would love to learn more about mastering and the like, it would improve my sound quality 10fold I am sure of it.

If anyone has any good links or anything please sahre!

Ok, I know that nobody is trying to hear any excuses so let me just say I am not going to have any time to post a song. Ruso I guess will get a first round bye? Anyways I would like to appologize to you all. I appreciate all the help I've received from you all so far. As soon as possible I will post some things on YouTube for some feedback. Again, sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused in the tournament. Good luck to you all.

well my friend, even if you have "shitty" headphones..there are some tricks
to get you some good mixes. the best thing to do is find some of your favorite artists/songs/cd's...whatever of the like that you want your sound to be like. then, a/b them to your mixes. you can compensate for your poor monitoring equipment with a/b mixes from professional tracks.

another useful thing to do is add eq and compression to every track. yes every track. hey aizo, im poor and i dont have money for a good compressor. and? get on kvr audio. there is tons of freeware out there that is awesome. especially you PC guys(i say YOU because i covet my beloved mac and always will). mac owners too. if you are not familiar with using compressors there is a plethora of knowledge on google. google do you use it? as far as EQs go. some useful things to keep in mind are. less is more. try taking away from the eq bands before adding. if your low ends are pumping enough even after compression. listen to each individual track. cut off everything thats not your bass snth/guitar/bass drum at 100hz. any other instrument has no business down there. even if you cant hear it...a track might be making inaudible sounds. this causes your speakers(or headphones) to overwork. meaning less pump.

Soundclick asks for a 128 kbs mp3, though they will accept higher resolutions and render it down. The maximum file size is 10MB, unless you sign up to a premium account, in which case it's 40MB (and you can get higher mp3 quality).

Mine came accross pretty well actually. Lost a little bit of the bottom end, and just a touch off the top, but I'm pretty happy with it overall.

Yeah , will make more of the tune , more melody and compression . ( will post compressed mix too , although i kinda preffer the bare track ) .

I know the sounds are'nt to everyones taste , but i'll be happy that the effort i put into the track is noticed.

Thanks bud ... yeh , done on just my mx no alterations .

It took about 5 hours in total , about 12-14 patterns and stitched up in song mode with 2 layers of live play on top .

Final tune should be rockin .

Thanks bud ... yeh , done on just my good old mx no alterations .

It took about 5 hours in total , about 12-14 patterns ( which were a bugger to qauntise proper ) stitched up in song mode with 2 layers of live play on top .

simple enough , but changing groove without that clip sound was a hurdle i could've done without . Final tune should be rockin .
