Korg R3 in Reason 3 as midi controller
Hi! I can't play any sound in reason using my R3 via USB. I choose the Midi In driver (there is another: KBD/KNOB but i don't know what choose) and I put my R3 in that way:
channel 1
local off
routing usb
clock auto
the midi filter, midi cc# and patch scr all the default values (without touching anything...)
please help, I don't know how to configure my R3
(if you know how to use on acid 5 with vst show me please )
thankss!! (and sorry for my english...)

In Reason you must have one of the modules selected. In 2.5 or 3, it's by left clicking on the far left of the module label in the sequencer window. An icon of a MIDI connector appears indicating it is accepting MIDI input. Playing any key should make the Note On indicator on the module itself blink.
Also make sure you have set preferences in Reason to accept input on all MIDI channels or the channel your R3 is set to (default is 1).
If it works with Acid, then the MIDI driver is OK.

As you can see on the Preferences panel picture, the MIDI buses are for "external control" i.e. playing the modules direct from MIDI (as opposed to sequencing them). This is not what you want (I think).
On the Preferences page select the MIDI (not Advanced MIDI) tab. Then select R3 KBD/KNOB as the MIDI input.
At that point click your mouse on the keyboard icon in the In column for NN19 1 and you should see a MIDI connector icon instead (at least that's how it works in Reason 2.5...what version do you have?) and you should be able to play the NN19 from the R3 keyboard and record your playing in Reason's sequencer.
Good luck!
P.S. if you want to control tempo from the R3, click on the MIDI Sync Enable button on the Reason transport.

Hello,
I don't know if you have had worked out, but here is the solution:
In Reason preferences you have to just set the master keyboard. On page "Control Surfaces and Keyboards"(this is former MIDI page on earlier versions of Reason) you have to Add the keybord, choose: Manufacturer=Korg, Model=<Other> (Midi keyboard w Controls), MIDI input=R3 1 KBD/KNOB
Then make shure that you have green check point and that option "Use with Reason" is checked.
In page "Advanced MIDI" you can leave No Midi Input for all options.
Now when you have a Master Keyboard, in sequencer you choose which device to control by clicking and making active a small black keyboard icon in the IN column (as said in post before).
Make shure to choose "Midi keyboard w Controls" so you can use your 4 performance knobs, which you can map later.
