Programming Triton with a Casio CZ-101...advice please!!!

Post by steffche »

Hi guys,

I have recently taken ownership of a CZ-101. I don't have many sounds for it yet, but Im working on that. I have figured out how to transfer sounds from PC to the CZ, so atleast Im on my way...now I just have to find the good sounds!

I have a few quiestions that I was hoping some of you could give me some advice on...

I play mostly in a 2-piece band where we use a drum machine, and I play the Bass and Rhythym and Lead, while the other guy plays Bouzouki and Vocals.

Becuase I do the Bass and Rhythym, I need to have my keyboard "Split" with a bass guitar (program G-34 is a beauty) and the rest of the keys are an organ type sounds which is good for rythym. Prior to getting the Casio, I used an old full-sized Yamaha V-50 keyboard purely as a midi device where I had the Triton sounds Bass/rhythym being played on the V-50, and my Triton had my lead/solo sounds.

Now that I have decided to use the CZ-101 with the Triton instead of the V-50, I have to rearrange my sounds. I guess I have to split my triton with the Bass/rhythym and have the CZ-101 as my lead/solo board.

Problem is that:

1. The CZ-101 is not touch sensitive

2. The CZ-101 is not detunable...which means that if I want to mix a
CZ-101 sound with a detuned triton sound they will sound off

3. Can the Triton control the programs on the CZ? I mean, can I set it up
so that when I select a sound on the Triton that it chooses a particular sound on the CZ?

Can anyone think of a better solution?
Any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Steve.
