I can't believe the Triton Extreme has been discontinued.

lcmorley, why would you sell an m3 to get back to the old crap.
i mean, m3 has 4 layer samples, better converters, better computer software integration (in fact triton extreme has none), better touchscreen, karma 2 on board (with triton extreme you have to buy pc software for 300 bucks), radias expansion....(TE MOSS doesn't have mmt synthesis, and moss board sounds are sharper while radias is smoother).
i just can't comprehend anyone switching over to the crappy triton extreme w/moss unless they want to play arab/turkish/albanian jingalees.

"Crap"?
That statement is a load of crap!
The Extreme maybe discontinued but crap it is not. Technology advances every day but it doesn't mean its predecessors are crap.
I've had loads of synths over the Years M1, Juno6, DX7,K1 etc. etc
Not one of them were "crap" then or even now.
When the OASYS 2 or M4 comes out it doesn't mean the Oasys or M3 are crap!
If some one wants to swap for an older model thats their doing.
These forums are testament that people love their KORG's so less of the "CRAP" crap if you please

bkboy,
I know this is probably hard for you to believe, but there are musicians who sold their Extremes, bought M3s and now can't live with it.
OK, M3 has its shiny moments - Radias, 16 timbres in COMBI, pads, sliders, somewhat different (not necessarily better) program engine, but at the same time its slower than Extreme, hasn't all the Extremes multisamples, sounds different than Extreme... For some, M3 sound is better than Extremes, for some it isn't. It's the matter of personal taste and needs.
And you have to consider time spent making user programs and combis. Someone who spent year or two programing his on sounds on Extreme will be very reluctant to do it all over again on M3, don't you think?

good boy greg! yeah, indeed i was being sarcastic!
for those of you who know, i have complained extensively about the crappy choice of colors, materials, and aesthetics of the m3 chassis.
i LOVE my triton extreme, and can't live without it (no sarcasm involved). m3 was a major blow to the korg's triton legacy.
even if triton has only 2 layer multisample capability and 8 timbes per combi compared to m3, i have found workarounds. only thing really crappy about the TE is the built-in acoustic (drum, guitars, piano) samples, so that's why i take advantage of its multisampler and use akai libraries.
the blue monochrome screen is an arse-sore to look at, but never the less, its my favorite keyboard/synth workstation from korg to date.

Indeed. To second that, I have actually tried an M3 twice and really Looooved it! I bought a TE last summer and been wanting one since its date of release. And I just looooove the TE!!shrike wrote:bkboy,

For me, if I get the chance to buy an M3, I would blindly but I'd NEVER sell my TE. I think the TE and the M3 are two really unique boards. And they're very different. Ideally? I'd love to still have my Pa1xPro, my TE and add an M3 to them but... hey... just dreaming!

I don't think Korg have discontinued the 61 note model...just the bigger Extremes. The 61 still shows up new on a lot of internet sites and is still a current product on Korg.com.
I had a 61 and sold it last summer. I have an M3-73 (and it's great), but there is something about the Extreme that I still like a lot. It does a lot of things well and the sonic palette is huge. It was a great board for gigging and I will probably end up buying another 61 some day.

i too have an extreme 61 with moss and demoed the m3 and while it had some sweet sounds... and the karma2(which is neat but not for me) i still prefer the extreme for my needs..so i couldnt justify taking a loss on selling it to upgrade to an m3....i would rather look into the v synth or fantom g/ or xs7....
