Radias power supply

Greetings!

I may buy a Korg Radias from USA but I haven't found any information about the power supply. I only know it's 9 volts but will it work in Europe? Is it universal (110v~240v)? Thanks!

You should notice 1 very important thing:

You can't just buy any adapter for it - it doesn't have a standard DC input. It's some kind of a weird 4 pin XLR, or something...

Either way, you will have to order an adapter from Korg (and I'm note even sure you could... but why not? It's just a spare part). Though Radias has the same adapter as Karma, I think... so if you have other Korg gear, it can be good also...

For more specs, see Korg site - I'm sure it's there... (or download owners manual) I can't tell myself - both Karma and Radias are gone for the moment.

The Radias, just like the EMX-1, uses an unusual 9V AC (NOT DC!) power adaptor. I know from personal experience (bought my Radias from the US too) that the US power adaptor does NOT support 220V. You will blow it if you try.
You have three options:

1) Use a stepdown converter to get your 220-240V down to 110V. Not good, because most stepdown converters are only intended for short-term use. I have one and it starts to smell after an hour of use with the Radias. That thing is power-hungry.

2) Use another power supply. Obviously you have to know what you're doing. Anything supplying 9V AC with 50-60Hz is fine. I tried a car battery charger's transformer that has several windings, using one of them gave me 9V AC, which worked fine for the Radias. You can just cut the cable + connector from the US power supply and solder it onto the right pins on the transformer.

3) Order an original power supply from Korg, for example at http://www.thomann.de/es/korg_ka_169e_netzteil.htm

Glad to be of help. If you want to try a stepdown converter, do get a 100W converter that can do at least 50W permanently. Such a converter costs around 15-20 euros, the korg power supply costs 45.

just want to share experience)
got Radias-R with american power supply (KA-163E) and converter - didn't like it

so i bought a new one for about 23 Euros (33 dollars) - Korg KA-169E (this model is compatible with Radias and some other Korg gear)

and also i'm doing a tablestand for my Radias) when it will be ready - i will post the photo)
